With the Louisiana high school football season in full swing, SBLive Sports has released its 2023 Louisiana high school football computer rankings for every classification.

We will continue to release our computer rankings weekly for the duration of the season.

Four of the five classifications have the same No. 1 ranked team this week as in last week's rankings. Ruston continues at the top in Class 5A. The Bearcats are listed with a 7-1 record, but that loss - to Warren Easton in the season opener - was later forfeited by the Eagles.

St. Thomas More remains No. 1 in 4A, while 3A No. 1 Jena remains undefeated after defeating another squad, Bunkie, which also came in with a perfect record. St. Charles Catholic remains No. 1 in 2A and continues to be undefeated, ahead of other undefeated teams like Newman and Calvary Baptist.

The only change at the top this week was in Class 1A, as Ouachita Christian regains the No. 1 ranking over Vermilion Catholic.

SBLive's formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
