Southside freshman Kay'Len Alexander voted SBLive's Louisiana High School Athlete of the Week

Alexander making an immediate impact for her team

Kay'Len Alexander is already making an immediate impact for her squad. 

Alexander, a 6-foot freshman forward for the Southside girls basketball team, is already averaging double figures for the Sharks.

In a game against Northside on Jan. 9, she led her team in scoring with 18 points as Southside prevailed, 47-35. Three nights later, she was again the team's top scorer, finishing with 22 points in a 69-39 win against Sam Houston.

For her efforts, Alexander was voted the SBLive Louisiana High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 8-14.
