Dominant defense helps Wise blank Broadneck for Maryland 4A football state title

Pumas record an early safety then turn back every Broadneck offensive effort, Wise rushes for three touchdown, including two by DeCarlos Young

Broadneck came into the MPSSAA 4A state championship football game on a roll, but the roll was slowed considerably by the Wise defense, which shutout the Bruins, 21-0, to win its fifth state crown in the last eight years.

Wise (13-1) took advantage of great field position in the first half to force a fumble and score on a pair of DeCarlos Young touchdown runs to build a 15-0 lead.

The Pumas were just as tough defensively in the second half while adding a third score to put the game out of reach.
