Vote: Massachusetts MIAA state championships football player of the week (12/4/2023)

We have seven candidates for your voting consideration

The Massachusetts High School Football MIAA State Championships at Gillette Stadium are complete as we complete our Player of the Week polls.

As such, we have seven athletes nominated this week for the SBLive Massachusetts MIAA state championships football player of the week award from November 30-December 1, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, December 9th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced next week.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominations:

Henry Hasslebeck, QB, Xaverian: Last name sound familiar? That’s because he’s the son of former NFL quarterback Matt Hasslebeck. The younger Hasslebeck led Xaverian to their first state title since 2015, compiling 223 all-purpose yards and throwing three touchdowns in a 31-25 win over St. John’s Prep.

Justin Marques, RB, Fairhaven: One of the top rushing performances of the Massachusetts state championships belonged to Marques. The running back rushed for 228 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 26-22 win over Salem for the Division 6 Super Bowl.

Kellen & Camden LaChapelle, RBs, Uxbridge: It would be unfair to just pick one of the brothers that helped lead the way on the ground in Uxbridge’s dominating 42-16 win over Amesbury for the Division 7 Super Bowl. We named them both as they combined for 302 yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Jackson Thomas Belsan, QB, Scituate: It came in a losing effort, but there was undoubtedly not because of Thomas Belsan. The senior quarterback completed 16-of-28 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns in the Division 4 championship loss to Duxbury.

Alex Barlow, RB, Duxbury: If you want a crazy good rushing performance, look no further than Barlow’s big night in Duxbury’s 62-33 rout of Scituate. The bruising running back rushed for 275 yards on 32 carries and scored touchdowns.

Tommy Mcleish, QB, King Phillip Regional: The 6-foot-4, 190-pound senior signal caller went out with a bang in leading King Phillip Regional to the Division 2 Super Bowl 42-14 victory over Marshfield. Mcleish threw for around 200 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Harrison Hinckle, WR/DB, Milton: Whether Hinckle is lining up at wide receiver or at free safety, he was making plays in Milton’s 42-21 win over Walpole for the Division 3 Super Bowl title. Hinckle had an interception and a touchdown grab to helped lead the Wildcats to a state championship.
