1. Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice (18-1)

Last week’s ranking: 1

Next game: Feb. 20 vs. Detroit Catholic Central

Ranking rationale: Brother Rice continues to be the all-around best team in the state. It has reached the Catholic League Central semifinals, where it’ll look to take down Detroit Catholic Central.

2. Detroit Cass Tech (21-0)

Last week’s ranking: 2

Next game: TBA

Ranking rationale: Cass Tech came back from down 15 with five minutes to go to force overtime and eventually take down Detroit Martin Luther King, becoming Detroit PSL Champions in the process. What a way cap off an outstanding regular season.

3. North Farmington (17-1)

Last week’s ranking: 3

Next game: Feb. 24 vs. Ferndale

Ranking rationale: North Farmington survived a scare form Clarkston last week to keep its 13-game winning streak alive.

4. Grand Blanc (17-2)

Last week’s ranking: 5

Next game: Feb. 21 vs. Midland

Ranking rationale: Grand Blanc defeated Muskegon in an overtime thriller to jump it in the power 25. Winners of 14 in a row, it is the hottest team in the state.

5. Muskegon (17-2)

Last week’s ranking: 4

Next game: Feb. 21 at Holland

Ranking rationale: Muskegon’s only two losses this year are to top five teams in the state. While I do have  some questions as to how it will fare against top competition in March, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

6. Detroit Loyola (18-1)

Last week’s ranking: 7

Next game: Feb. 21 at Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett

Ranking rationale: Loyola jumps to No. 6 this week as it looks become champions of the Catholic League Intersectional division.

7. Detroit U-D Jesuit (16-3)

Last week’s ranking: 7

Next game: Feb. 21 at Warren De La Salle Collegiate

Ranking rationale: U-D Jesuit gets leapfrogged by Loyola this week. It is also fighting for the Catholic League Central title.

8. Ann Arbor Huron (18-1)

Last week’s ranking: 8

Next game: Feb. 21 vs. Ann Arbor Skyline

Ranking rationale: Huron stays at No. 8 this week ahead of a rivalry matchup against Skyline.

9. Flint Beecher (15-3)

Last week’s ranking: 9

Next game: Feb. 23 at Flint Southwestern

Ranking rationale: Beecher stays put at the nine-spot this week.

10. Grand Rapids Catholic Central (14-5)

Last week’s ranking: 12

Next game: Feb. 21 at Grand Rapids South Christian

Ranking rationale: Catholic Central is back in the top 10 ahead of a massive game against South Christian. It can clinch the OK Gold title with a win. If South Christian wins, it has a shot to steal the title away from it.

11. Warren Michigan Collegiate (16-2)

Last week’s ranking: 15

Next game: Feb. 22 vs. Detroit Old Redford

Ranking rationale: Michigan Collegiate continues to climb in the Power 25 as several teams previously ahead of it lost last week. It has reached the semifinals of the Charter School Conference tournament, where it will take on Old Redford.

12. Onsted (14-4)

Last week’s ranking: 14

Next game: Feb. 21 vs. Clinton

Ranking rationale: Onsted is also a beneficiary of several teams losing, moving up two spots this week.

13. Port Huron Northern (16-3)

Last week’s ranking: 10

Next game: Feb. 21 at Roseville

Ranking rationale: Port Huron Northern lost in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals to Utica Eisenhower, and it wasn’t even close. It was the clear favorite in that tournament, and now falls three spots.

14. Okemos (14-3)

Last week’s ranking: 11

Next game: Feb. 21 at Walled Lake Western

Ranking rationale: Also falling three spots this week is Okemos, who was routed by almost 20 points on the road by Lansing Waverly.

15. Taylor Trillium Academy (16-0)

Last week’s ranking: 16

Next game: Feb. 21 at Adrian Lenawee Christian

Ranking rationale: Trillium moves into the top 15 for this first time this year. It has some tougher opponents down the stretch, so we’ll see how long it can keep that perfect record in tact.

16. Benton Harbor (14-6)

Last week’s ranking: 13

Next game: Feb. 24 vs. Berrien Springs

Ranking rationale: Rough week for Benton Harbor. It just finished up the toughest part of its schedule and has now lost four of its last five. It has two games left before districts to see if it can end on a good note.

17. Grand Rapids Northview (15-4)

Last week’s ranking: 18

Next game: Feb. 21 at Forest Hills Northern

Ranking rationale: Northview has now won three straight after losing three straight. It has three consecutive road games to end the regular season, including a showdown with Grand Rapids Christian for the OK White title.

18. Warren De La Salle Collegiate (11-7)

Last week’s ranking: 19

Next game: Feb. 21 vs. Detroit U-D Jesuit

Ranking rationale: De La Salle moves up another spot with a chance to prove itself against U-D Jesuit. It has won this type of game before. Let’s see if it can do it again.

19. Romulus Summit Academy North (17-1)

Last week’s ranking: 20

Next game: Feb. 22 at Detroit Edison

Ranking rationale: Summit Academy has reached the Charter School Conference semifinals. It could end up playing Michigan Collegiate in the finals, which would be an incredible matchup.

20. Grand Rapids Christian (14-4)

Last week’s ranking: 21

Next game: Feb. 21 at Greenville

Ranking rationale: Grand Rapids Christian has achieved its highest Power 25 ranking of the season so far. It’ll look to take the OK White title this Friday against Northview.

21. Kalamazoo Central (18-2)

Last week’s ranking: 24

Next game: Feb. 23 at Battle Creek Central

Ranking rationale: Kalamazoo Central keeps reeling off big win after big win. It has a massive matchup with Muskegon to end the regular season, where it could get another one.

22. Grandville Calvin Christian (17-1)

Last week’s ranking: 23

Next game: Feb. 21 at Wyoming Kelloggsville

Ranking rationale: Calvin Christian moves up one spot this week after wrapping up the OK Silver title last week.

23. Hamtramck (12-8)

Last week’s ranking: 17

Next game: Feb. 23 at Harper Woods Chandler Park

Ranking rationale: Hamtramck gets one more chance to stay in the Power 25. It has been here all year, and at this point there are numerous teams that are more worthy of its spot.

24. Warren Lincoln (16-4)

Last week’s ranking: 22

Next game: Feb. 21 at New Baltimore Anchor Bay

Ranking rationale: Lincoln lost a triple-overtime heartbreaker to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. It drops two spots as a result.

25. Ferndale (10-6)

Last week’s ranking: 25

Next game: Feb. 20 vs. West Bloomfield

Ranking rationale: Ferndale doesn’t go anywhere this week. It has three tough road games to end the year, so we’ll see if it has really figured things out or not.
