The MHSAA softball tournament came to a conclusion on Saturday, June 17.
Read through the following nominees who had strong performances in the semifinals and finals.

Kylie Swierkos, Hartland
Swierkos dominated on the mound in Hartland’s Division 1 title win over Brownstown Woodhaven. She had 13 strikeouts, zero walks, one run and four hits.
She also dominated Lake Orion in the semifinals when she had seven strikeouts, zero walks while allowing four hits and no runs.
Riley Phillips, Hartland
Phillips hit two RBIs in the title game and two RBIs in a semifinal win over Lake Orion.
Grace Usher, Brownstown Woodhaven
Usher shut out Grand Blanc in the Division 1 semifinal. She struck out nine with zero walks while allowing only two hits.
Braleigh Miller, Gaylord
Miller had four hits in the Division 2 final win over Vicksburg.
Alexis Shepherd, Gaylord
Gaylord had four RBIs and two hits in the title game against Vicksburg.
Alexis Kozlowski, Gaylord
She was swinging a hot bat throughout the finals and semifinals. She had three RBIs and two hits in the finals after having one RBI and one hit in a 2-1 semifinal win.
Jessica Nelson, Dearborn Divine Child
Nelson threw six innings in a semifinal loss to Gaylord. She allowed only five hits and two runs. She had four strikeouts to one walk.
Macey Fegan, Standish-Sterling
Fegan hit the walk-off RBI double that gave Standish-Sterling the Division 3 state title. She also had two hits in a 10-1 win over Ravenna in the semifinals.
Devri Jennings, Standish-Sterling
Jennings pitched a complete game shutout in the Division 3 finals over Whiteford. She allowed five hits and two walks while striking out five batters.
Jennings also had two hits and two RBIs in the semifinal win over Ravenna. She was dominant on the mound too. She pitched a complete game and allowed one run, three hits, zero walks and seven strikeouts.
Unity Nelson, Whiteford
Nelson pitched a fantastic Division 3 final. She allowed one run while pitching six innings. She struck out 12 batters and only walked one while allowing two hits.
Nelson also pitched a complete game in the semifinal against Laingsburg. She allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.
Jenna Gremel, Unionville-Sebewaing
Gremel had two hits and three RBIs in the Division 4 title win over Mendon. She also had a hit and scored a run in the semifinal win against MP Sacred Heart.
Lauren Schabes, Mendon
Schabes had three hits and two RBIs in the Division 4 title game. She was also stellar on the mound in the semifinal win over Johannesburg Lewiston. She pitched a complete game and allowed two runs, six hits while striking out 12 batter and walking three.
Mairin Wheaton, MP Sacred Heart
Wheaton kept Sacred Heart in contention during the Division 4 semifinals against Unionville-Sebewaing. She pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits, two runs and zero earned runs while walking three batters and striking out six.
