Southfield A&T football defeats Cass Tech with late touchdown
DETROIT -- No. 4 Southfield A&T defeated No. 2 Cass Tech 29-27 on Saturday at the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic.
Southfield A&T quarterback and Kansas commit Isaiah Marshall ran in a 16-yard touchdown with 54 seconds remaining to take the lead.
Senior Warriors' wide receiver Tashi Braceful (Toledo commit) was nearly unstoppable..
Braceful finished the game with over 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Southfield A&T head coach Aaron Marshall had high praise for his senior receiver.
“He’s the best receiver in the state,” Aaron Marshall said. “I don’t know why everybody else doesn’t think that, but you see it.”
Isaiah Marshall had over 200 all-purpose yards. Not only did he connect with his receivers, Marshall also ran in the go-ahead touchdown with under a minute to go in the game. Marshall said once he saw the hole, he knew what to do.
“It was a pass play, and I saw the middle was wide open,” Isaiah Marshall said. “I knew before the play, if there’s any hole I’m going to take it, because I knew I was getting in.”
Cass Tech’s offense was completely on the shoulders of sophomore quarterback Corey Sadler Jr. The Technicians tried to get the ground game going with freshman running back De’mari Hendrix, but he was bottled up for most of the game.
Sadler had some success through the air, but he made his impact felt on the ground, and he even hurdled a player on the sideline in the first quarter.
It seems as if Cass Tech will go as far as Sadler takes them. He was recently named as the No. 20 prospect in the nation in the class of 2026 by 247sports.com.
