Top 25 Michigan high school football rankings (9/11/2023)
Shane Fairfield, Muskegon
Muskegon came into the season with high aspirations, but the first two weeks of the season didn’t go so well. Going into this week, Muskegon was 0-2 and desperately needed a win against Holland.
Shane Fairfield has kept his team focused, and they cruised to a 76-0 win.
Herb Brogan, Lumen Christi Catholic
Lumen Christi Catholic has started off the season extremely strong and Herb Brogan has his team firing on all cylinders.
Week three was impressive yet again as Lumen Christi Catholic defeated Gull Lake 28-0.
Marvin Rushing, Cass Tech
Cass Tech is another team that didn’t meet expectations during the first two weeks of the season. The Technicians started the season 0-2, but had a big bounce back win in week three.
Marvin Rushing’s squad put up 90 points in a much needed win against Renaissance.
Tom Alward, Goodrich
Tom Alward has his Goodrich squad playing very good football to begin the season. His team is looking like one of the best teams in the state, and a 34-15 win over Lake Fenton has them sitting at 3-0 so far.
Brett Vernon, Lakeview
Roseville High School was looking like a top team in the state to start the season, but a loss to Lakeview in week three put a damper on things. Great win for Brett Vernon and Lakeview.
Gary Houghton, Mason
Mason continues to impress week in and week out and week three was another great performance. A 35-0 win over Fowlerville improves Mason’s 2023 record to 3-0. Gary Houghton is doing great work with this team.
Ann Arbor Huron Coaching staff
The Ann Arbor Huron football team is in a very unique position right now, and the entire coaching staff deserves a lot of credit right now. Huron hired a new head coach before the season, but he resigned after the first game, a loss to Lapeer.
The River Rats have won their last two and took down rival Ann Arbor Skyline this past week.
Dallas Wimbrow, Hartland Volleyball
Hartland volleyball has gotten off to a terrific 8-1 start this season and head coach Dallas Wimbrow deserves a ton of credit. This team is going to continue to make noise throughout the season.
Nino Maniaci, Bishop Foley Boys Soccer
Bishop Foley is a perfect 6-0 to begin the 2023 season after an impressive week. Head coach Nino Maniaci has his team looking good, and they seem poised to make some noise when the postseason rolls around.
Jim Fish, North Branch Volleyball
North Branch is right back in contention to capture a state title in volleyball as Jim Fish has done a terrific job this season. North Branch is currently 16-1 and they have won five games in a row.
