Let’s take a close look at some of the top returning setters in Michigan high school volleyball for the 2023 season.
Plenty of worthy names are on this list, so be sure to read through the nominees and vote in our poll.
Voting will close on September 2 at 11:59 p.m.

Top setters in Michigan high school volleyball
Campbell Flynn, Farmington Hills Mercy
Junior
Flynn was named to the Division I all-state first team after a standout sophomore campaign in 2022.
The 6-foot-2 setter already has 1,357 assists, 526 digs and 613 kills throughout her two-year varsity career. Last season, she also boasted a .348 hitting percentage.
Zoey Dood, Grandville
Senior
A four-year varsity player, Dood is a two-time all-state, all-conference and all-region setter who will be attending the University of Virginia next season to continue her playing career.
A 6-foot-2 lefty, Dood, according to coach Jessica Dood, will lead the team in kills, too, despite her position.
“[She is] probably the most successful volleyball player at Grandville,” Dood said, adding that she is, “very aggressive and provides a great block and offensive threat.”
Emery Kuebler, Clarkston
Senior
Kuebler was named to the Division I all-state second team last season as a junior. The setter has 2,475 career assists, 590 digs and 121 kills.
Eva Long, Fenton
Sophomore
Long burst onto the scene as a freshman, finishing the season as a first-team all-conference honoree and landing on a slew of watch lists. She’s ranked No. 39 nation-wide by Prep Volleyball and top-10 in her class by PrepDig.
“Eva is a very dynamic player who is a tireless worker,” coach Jennifer Long said. “She is the heart of the team and plays a very physical game. Eva is a six-rotation starter who is the quarterback of our team and runs a very fast offense, which keeps our opponents on their toes.
Ella Craggs, Northville
Junior
Craggs, a 5-foot-9 setter, was named to the Division I all-state second team last season as a sophomore in her first varsity season.
For her career, Craggs has 1,275 assists (8.9 per set), 321 digs and 88 kills. Last season, she hit at a .311% clip.
Caroline Baker, Byron Center
Senior
Baker was an all-conference first team member and an honorable mention all-state player last season.
“Caroline is a very talented setter,” coach Missy Ritz-Johnson said. “She makes great decisions. She is a tough server and leads her team very well.”
Baker will continue her career next season at Grand Valley State University.
Mia Cibor, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Senior
Cibor was an all-catholic setter last season for coach Molly Campbell.
“Mia’s ability to run our offense using her strong volleyball IQ is an asset to our team,” Campbell said. “She is constantly working hard to connect with her hitters to make our offense the best it can be.”
Campbell said Cibor is a “tremendous” defender and added that her jump serve is another facet of her game which makes her a force for the team.
Kenzie Mahoney-Cottenham, Franklin
Senior
Last season, Mahoney-Cottenham, a co-captain, recorded 212 digs, 74 kills, 64 aces and 21 blocks as a setter.
“Kenzie is an integral member of the program,” coach Sarah Atteveld said. “She leads the team on the court by helping players find the open spots, keeping the ball moving around and supporting her team. She will be a tough replacement for our program next year, but as a true leader, she is working hard to help us develop another athlete to step into her shoes next year.”
Abby Pickard, Lakewood
Junior
Pickard was one of multiple Lakewood players to be named to the Division II all-state first team last season, Pickard’s efforts at setter helped lead her team to a 41-8 record in 2022.
Marli Robinson, Swan Valley
Senior
Robinson has been a member of the program’s varsity team since she was a sophomore and while she has yet to appear on an all-conference team, coach Sarah Gyger believes this is the year.
“She is smart and knows her hitters strengths and weaknesses,” Gyger said. “Not only does she run our court as a setter, but her defense is phenomenal. She will never let a ball hit the floor without laying it all on the line and diving for it. She’s truly an outstanding volleyball player.”
Adrienne Greschaw, North Branch
Senior
Greschaw is a stat-sheet stuffer for North Branch. As a junior last season, she was named to the Division II all-state first team.
In her career, the setter has totaled 3,702 assists, 826 digs, 213 kills and 212 assists.
Breslyn Zache, Paw Paw
Sophomore
This year will mark Breslyn’s second season on varsity as both a setter and hitter. According to coach Christina Duchene, she acts as an on-court leader and inspiration, despite her youth.
“For three rotations, she is a smart and meticulous setter,” Duchene said, “the other three rotations are where she shows her power and vertical to dominate the kill stats for the team. The season is just beginning, and the coaching staff is so excited to see her perform this year
Andreya Robinson, Bloomingdale
Senior
Robinson plays both setter and outside hitter for Bloomingdale. A team captain, she was an all-conference honorable mention last season. Robinson is also an all-conference basketball and softball player.
Sadie Haase, Fruitport
Junior
Haase was a Division II all-state honorable mention at setter in 2022. The 6-foot junior has 621 career kills, and 122 total blocks.
Taylor Smith, Pewamo-Westphalia
Senior
Smith was named to the Division 3 all-state first team for her work at setter last season. The Pirates won over 40 games in 2022 and Smith returns to help the team back to a deep playoff run.
Mya Kattula, Notre Dame Prep
Junior
Katulla is a top setter helping Notre Dame Prep to a 16-6-2 record.
Sophie Crawford, Gull Lake
Senior
Crawford is committed to playing at Miami (OH) University next season, and she has helped Gull Lake to a 12-7 overall record so far this season.
