Michigan high school football Team of the Week

Grand Blanc

In the first round of the playoffs, Grand Blanc took on Grand Ledge, and they made a statement. This was expected to be a close one, but Grand Blanc pulled away for a 48-13 win. They are moving on.

Detroit Catholic Central

Detroit Catholic Central is another team that made a big statement. They took on Novi in the first round, and the Wildcats were expected to make a run, but DCC dominated for a 49-22 win. Watch out for this squad.

Cass Tech

Another Detroit team that is poised for success is Cass Tech after their big round one win against Westland John Glenn. They won 35-14, and they have punched their ticket into the next round of the playoffs.

Dexter

Dexter had an incredible season last year, but without Cole Cabana this year, they weren’t as strong. However, they proved that they are ready for another deep playoff run after a 47-9 win over Allen Park. The Dreadnaughts look impressive.

Detroit Martin Luther King

Detroit schools showed out in the first round of the playoffs. Detroit MLK is another team that picked up an impressive win, as they defeated Port Huron 50-35. They will take on Grosse Pointe North in the next round.

Dearborn Divine Child

A lot of people picked Redford Union to win in round one of the playoffs, but Dearborn Divine Child had other plans. A 39-22 victory sends Divine Child into the second round of the postseason.

Muskegon Oakridge

Muskegon Oakridge had a difficult matchup in round one of the playoffs against Belding, but they pulled out a close win. This one was close from start to finish, but Oakridge ended up leaving with a 13-7 victory. Their season lives on.

Midland Bullock Creek

Clare was one of the top D6 teams all year long, but their season was ended by Midland Bullock Creek in the first round of the playoffs. Bullock Creek came to play, and they earned a 22-19 victory. Impressive win for this group.

Monroe St. Mary CC

One of the most intense games of the weekend was a matchup that went to overtime between Monroe St. Mary CC and Detroit Loyola. It was a tight one, but Monroe St. Mary CC got the job done in OT to keep their season alive. Gritty win.

Ishpeming

Ishpeming didn’t let the East Jordan offense get anything going in their round one matchup, and it led to a 20-6 victory. That was an impressive performance from Ishpeming, and their season will last at least another week.
