Here are the candidates for the SBLive Michigan High School Athlete of the Week.

Michigan high school Athlete of the Week

Dallas Walsh, Millington

Walsh ran 21 times for 192 yards and four touchdowns while also recording two tackles on defense. 

Jaden Edington, Corunna

Edington rushed 20 times for 186 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Macomb Lutheran North. 

Chase Burnett, Goodrich

Burnett had 156 yards on the ground on 25 carries for two touchdowns. Goodrich defeated Haslett 24-17.

JT Hartman, Forest Hills Central

Hartman was fantastic for Forest Hills Central in the quarterfinals. He rushed 23 times for 135 yards and 10 tackles on defense. 

Landon Tungate, Byron Center

Tungate threw for 166 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for 65 yards and two scored in a semifinal loss to East Lansing. 

Trey Sloothaak, Zeeland West

Sloothaak rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown in the win over Parma Western. He also caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. 

Charlie DeBruyn, West Catholic

DeBruyn scored three touchdowns for the Falcons in their 30-28 loss to Catholic Central.

Taegan Harris, Martin

Harris had 158 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns. He caught four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six carries for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Martin defeated Kingtson 42-34 in the semifinal. 

Bennett VandenBerg, Constantine

VandenBerg scored three rushing touchdowns with 83 yards on 13 carries in the quarterfinals win over Ovid-Elsie. He also added seven tackles on defense. 

Darekeo Speech, Muskegon

Speech had 11 tackles in the dominant win over Saginaw Heritage in the Division 2 regional finals. 

Drew Gabriel, North Muskegon

Gabriel, a freshman, hit the game-winning field goal to sin 28-27 against Pewamo-Westphalia in the quarterfinals. He was also 4-fo-4 on PATs.

Kadale Williams, Jackson Lumen Christi

Junior running back Kadale Williams ran for 133 yards on 18 carries for one touchdown as Jackson Lumen Christi beat Clinton, 21-14, in a Division 7 playoff game. 

Isaiah Marshall, Southfield A&T

Senior quarterback and Kansas commit Isaiah Marshall completed 17 of his 30 passes for 248 passing yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 83 rushing yards as Southfield knocked off Chippewa Valley in the Division 1 Regional Final, 31-21. 

Jace Clarizio, East Lansing

Junior running back Jace Clarizio carried the ball 30 times for 230 yards and scored twice as East Lansing picked up the Division 2 Regional Final win over Byron Center, 42-20. 

James Young, North Muskegon

Junior quarterback James Young led North Muskegon to an edging Division 7 Regional Final win over Pewamo-Westphalia, 28-27. Young would finish with four passing touchdowns in the win. 

Destin Piggee, Muskegon

Senior wide receiver Destin Pigee racked up 245 rushing yards on nine carries and found the endzone twice for Muskegon as they beat Saginaw Heritage for the Division 2 Regional Championship, 42-14. 

Jack Mills, Carleton Airport

Senior Jack Mills finished with 141 rushing yards on 28 attempts and two rushing touchdowns, while catching four passes for 74 yards. Mills would also compile six tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble on the defensive end despite a 46-19 loss to Harper Woods. 

Brian Booms, Flat Rock

Senior running back/safety Brian Booms finished with 202 rushing yards on 25 attempts and five rushing touchdowns while hauling in eight receptions for 85 yards and one receiving touchdown. On defense, Booms would compile four tackles and one tackle for loss in a 56-26 win over Southeastern. 

Molly Reck, Northville

Junior Molly Reck had two stellar performances for Northville as she led them to the State Quarterfinal. In the Regional Semifinal against Bedford, Reck notched a double-double as she finished with 20 kills and 18 digs while adding four assists. Then, in the Regional Final against Saline, Reck would notch another double-double as she finished with 20 kills and 11 digs, while adding one ace, one block, and two assists. 


Gabby Divita, Grosse Pointe South

Sophomore Gabby Divita would notch a double-double as she finished with 24 kills and 12 digs while adding two aces, and one block in a 3-0 Regional Semifinal win over Fraser. 

Aubree Deshetsky, North Branch

In girls volleyball, sophomore Aubree Deshetsky notched a double-double as she finished with 17 kills and 17 digs, while adding two blocks, and one assist as he led North Branch to a 3-2 Regional Semifinal win over Marysville.
