In another week of Michigan high school boys basketball, North Farmington takes the top spot in the Power 25. The Raiders are undefeated and will face Ferndale this week. 

East Lansing comes in at No. 2. The Trojans will face No. 18 Waverly on Thursday, January 11 for another quality win on the resume.

No. 1 North Farmington (8-0)

The Raiders remain undefeated after beating West Bloomfield 61-46 on Thursday, led in scoring by junior Rob Smith (17) and senior Dylan Smith (16). Since beating Zeeland West 66-57 on December 16, North Farmington has won each game by at least 15 points. North Farmington will play Ferndale next on January 9. 

No. 2 East Lansing (8-0)

The Trojans took care of Grand Blanc on Friday en route to a 53-38 win. East Lansing is set to host Waverly next on January 11, and it will be its first Capital Area (Blue) League game since beating Everett on December 19. 

No. 3 U of D Jesuit (8-1)

U of D was able to defeat Chelsea 87-78 on Friday. Junior Leroy Blyden Jr. had a game-high 30 points, closely followed by junior Xavier Johnson with 26. The Cubs have four Catholic League (Central) games in a row over the next ten days, with the first coming against De La Salle on January 9. 

No. 4 St. Mary’s Prep (7-1)

The Eaglets are coming off of a 54-40 win over Catholic League (Central) foe De La Salle. St. Mary’s will play a league opponent in eight of its next nine games, including every game in the month of January. Detroit Catholic Central is set to host the Eaglets on January 9. 

No. 5 Cass Tech (7-0)

The Technicians demolished Groves en route to a 69-50 victory on December 30. Cass Tech plays Dakota on January 8 before a Detroit Public School League matchup against Renaissance on January 12. 

No. 6 North Rapids Grandview (6-0)

Northview dominated Forest Hills Northern 64-38 on Friday. The Wildcats have now held their last two opponents under 40 points, as they beat Fitzgerald 44-36 on December 27. Northview faces Lowell next in a Ottawa-Kent League (Bronze) game on January 9. 

No. 7 Grand Rapids Christian (7-0)

The Eagles were able to beat Greenville 70-57, making it their highest scoring game so far this season. Christian has to visit cross-town rival Northview on January 12, and it is the first of two regular season matchups between the teams, with the second coming on February 9. 

No. 8 Warren Lincoln (6-1)

The Abes edged out Utica Eisenhower for a 52-48 victory on Friday. It was the lowest amount of points Lincoln has scored in a game this season. Coming up, the Abes will host Grosse Pointe North (1/10) and New Haven (1/12). 

No. 9 De La Salle (6-2)

The Pilots are coming off of their second loss of the season against St. Mary’s Prep (54-40). After beginning the season 4-0, De La Salle is 2-2 in its last four games. The Pilots are set to host U of D on January 9. 

No. 10 Detroit Catholic Central (7-2)

The Shamrocks were able to hand Brother Rice its first loss of the season by a score of 55-53. They followed it up by beating Davison 80-65 on Saturday. Detroit Catholic Central has another test in front of them as St. Mary’s Prep awaits on January 9. 

No. 11 Brother Rice (8-2)

The Warriors began the season 8-0, but they’ve since dropped two games in a row to Detroit Catholic Central (55-53) and East Kentwood (47-42). Brother Rice has a chance to prove it's still the cream of the crop when St. Mary’s Prep comes to town on January 12. 

No. 12 Muskegon (5-0)

The Big Reds dominated Ferndale 65-45 on Saturday. Muskegon has three straight home games coming up, with the first coming against Mona Shores on January 9. It will be Muskegon’s second time in Ottawa-Kent (Green) League action this season. 

No. 13 Dearborn (7-0)

Dearborn demolished Glenn 75-44 on Friday. The Pioneers have scored over 70 points in five straight games, including 98 against Divine Child on December 14. Dearborn will play Stevenson next on January 9. 

No. 14 Heritage (6-0)

The Hawks edged out Hamady by a score of 66-63. Heritage has home games against Traverse City Central (1/9) and De La Salle (1/11) before playing in its first Saginaw Valley League game of the season against Grand Blanc on January 16. 

No. 15 East Kentwood (4-2)

East Kentwood was able to hand Brother Rice its second loss of the season with a 47-42 win on Saturday. The Falcons have now won three games in a row after beginning the season 1-2. East Kentwood has to visit Jenison next on January 9.

No. 16 Ann Arbor Huron (5-1)

The River Rats were able to beat Greenhills 66-52 on Friday. It was Ann Arbor Huron’s first game since losing to Brother Rice on December 30. The River Rats are set to host Monroe next on January 9. 

No. 17 Saline (7-1)

The Hornets defeated Flat Rock 57-50 for their first win of 2024. Saline has now won back-to-back games after falling to East Lansing 74-45 on December 21. Saline is set to host Dexter next on January 9. 

No. 18 Lansing Waverly (7-2)

Waverly was able to get by Ottawa Hills by a score of 79-71. The Warriors have now won three straight games since losing to Canton on December 16 (59-55). Waverly plays Jackson next (1/9) before a matchup with East Lansing on January 11. 

No. 19 Flint Powers (8-1)

The Chargers edged out Arthur Hill for a 72-67 victory on Friday. Flint Powers has two Saginaw Valley League games coming up, with the first coming against Mt. Pleasant on January 9, and the second coming against Dow on January 12. 

No. 20 Davison (5-3)

The Cardinals lost to Detroit Catholic Central by a score of 80-65 on Saturday. It was Davison’s first loss since losing the first two games of the season to Ferndale (76-65) and Saginaw (78-70). Davison is set to visit Arthur Hill next on January 12. 

No. 21 Summit Academy North (8-1)

Summit Academy North has been playing at another level, winning its last two games by a combined 121 points, including a 91-18 win over Lincoln-King Academy. Old Redford Academy is next on the schedule, and it could be Summit Academy North’s toughest test since its loss to Gabirel Richard on December 12. 

No. 22 Hudsonville (6-2)

The Eagles were able to beat Grand Haven 62-48 on Friday. Hudsonville has now scored at least 62 points in three straight games after putting up just 44 in a loss to South Christian. The Eagles are set to visit Caledonia next on January 9. 

No. 23 Utica (9-0)

Utica remained undefeated after beating rival Utica Ford 70-52 on Thursday. Utica has four straight home games coming up, all of which are Macomb Area (Blue) League games. First, the Chieftains have to host Cousino on January 9. 

No. 24 Renaissance (8-3)

The Phoenix were able to beat Carman-Ainsworth 74-66 on Saturday. Renaissance has scored at least 69 points in every victory this season. Renaissance likely has its toughest challenge of the season coming up when it visits Cass Tech on January 12. 

No. 25 West Bloomfield (5-5)

The Lakers lost to North Farmington by a score of 61-46. Four of West Bloomfield’s five losses have come against teams currently ranked in the top ten, and its also beaten other ranked teams. West Bloomfield has a chance to bounce back when it visits Rochester Adams on January 9.
