Michigan High School Athlete of the Week nominees

Cedric Huntley, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix

Senior Cedric Huntley finished with 33 points as Kalamazoo Loy Norrix edged Parma Western, 76-73. 

Craig Hureskin, Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills

Senior Craig Hureskin notched a career-high 51 points to lead Ottawa Hills to a huge win over Wayland, 92-59. 

Karter Richards, Grosse Pointe South

Senior Karter Richards reached a milestone as he notched the 1,000-point career mark with a 37-point outing against L’Anse Creuse in a 75-73 win. 

Luke Gelow, Gaylord

Senior guard Luke Gelow finished with 38 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals despite Gaylord losing to Petoskey, 62-59. 

Kamron Brackett, Bronson

Junior Kamron Brackett had a significant all-around game as he notched a double-double finishing with 30 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and five steals as Bronson defeated Quincy, 64-55. 

Madisyn Aldridge, Flint Hamady

Freshman Madisyn Aldridge led Hamady to a 72-15 win over Saginaw Nouvel as she finished the game with 26 points and eight steals. 

Kimora Ellis, Bridgeport

Sophomore Kimora Ellis had a dominant performance for Bridgeport as she finished with a double-double, scoring 35 points and grabbing 25 rebounds, while adding five steals and one assist in a 50-47 win over Communication Media Arts. 

Maddux Locke, Springport

Senior Maddux Locke scored 30 points while notching six assists, five steals, three rebounds, and one block as Springport knocked off Hudson, 66-33. 

Averie Zinn, Genesee

Sophomore Averie Zinn continued to display her talents as she finished with 37 points, seven rebounds, six steals, three blocks, and one assist despite a 64-44 loss to Clio. 

Cade Pratt, Byron Center

Senior Cade Pratt finished with a hat trick and more as he notched three goals while adding three assists to lead Byron Center to a 8-0 win over Hudsonville. 

Caden Gleason, Sparta

Junior Caden Gleason finished with three goals to notch a hat trick and one assist in Sparta’s 6-5 win over Kenowa Hills. 

Michael Maillette, Houghton

Senior Michael Maillette notched a hat trick as he knocked in three goals to help Houghton defeat Novi, 7-2. 

Matthew Wagner, North Oakland

Senior Matthew Wagner finished with three goals and one assist to lead North Oakland over Lenawee United, 4-3. 

Wyatt Josephson, Walled Lake United

Senior goalkeeper Wyatt Josephson was stellar in Walled Lake United’s 3-0 win over Hartland as he notched 35 saves and zero goals given up.
