Here are the candidates for the SBLive Michigan High School Athlete of the Week.

Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced Monday.

Michigan High School Athlete of the Week nominees

Tristan Comer, Freeland

Sophomore Tristan Comer had a dominant performance as he finished with a double-double, scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds, while adding four assists and two blocks as Freeland cruised past Alma, 80-54. 

Kelvin Torbert Jr., East Lansing

Sophomore guard Kelvin Torbert Jr. proved he’s one of the best in the state as he finished with a game-high 32 points to lead East Lansing to a 69-62 win over Lansing Waverly. 

Mason Struck, Chesaning

Senior forward Mason Struck had himself a career night as he finished with 35 points to notch the 1,000 career-point mark as he helped Chesaning defeat Montrose, 58-46. 

Chase Kuiper, Troy

Senior Chase Kuiper had a dominant showing for Troy as he finished with a double-double, scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds along with four blocks to secure a 61-51 win over Lake Orion. 

Noah Vanlaningham, Mattawan

Senior Noah Vanlaningham had a good performance, finishing with 32 points as Mattawan got a huge win over Plainwell, 77-58. 

Alayna Armstrong, Grand Ledge

Senior Alayna Armstrong finished with a double-double as she notched 30 points and 10 rebounds along with three blocks and three steals to lead Grand Ledge in a 51-32 win over Okemos. 

Sophie Fox, Au Gres-Sims

Freshman Sophie Fox finished with a double-double as she scored 21 points while grabbing 11 rebounds, seven steals, three blocks, and one assist despite Au Gres-Sims falling to Hillman, 61-52. 

Emily Zelinko, St. Charles

Senior Emily Zelinko showed out for St. Charles as she finished with 30 points in a huge win over Ashley, 71-35. 

Amy Ahrens, Faith Baptist

Senior Amy Ahrens notched a triple-double as she finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals along with four assists to lead Faith Baptist over Bethany Christian, 57-27. 

Tambre Williams, Macomb Dakota

Senior forward Tambre Williams finished with a double-double as she scored 12 points while hauling in 20 rebounds and adding four blocks, two steals, and one assist in Dakota’s 63-33 win over L’Anse Creuse North. 


Tate Hubler, Grosse Ile

Senior forward Tate Hubler produced a hat trick as he finished with three goals while adding two assists as Grosse Ile knocked off Southgate Unified, 9-1. 

Nate Dixon, Rockford

Senior forward Nate Dixon secured the hat trick as he notched three goals and one assist in Rockford’s 7-2 win over Kenowa Hills. 

Lane Petit, Brighton

Senior forward Lane Petit had a great performance with a hat trick as he finished with three goals and one assist to secure an 8-0 win over Canton. 

Gavin Mulcahy, South Lyon Unified

Senior forward Gavin Mulcahy notched a hat trick for South Lyon Unified as he scored three goals while adding one assist in an 11-3 win over North Oakland. 

Cam LaBadie, Sault Ste Marie

Senior goalkeeper Cam LaBadie wasn’t letting up as he secured 38 saves and zero goals given up in Sault Ste Marie’s 1-0 win against Jackson Lumen Christi.
