Top 25 Michigan high school boys basketball rankings (2/5/2024)
The No. 1 St. Mary's Prep Eaglets (15-1) survived the test against the No. 4 East Lansing Trojans (14-2) 56-37 on Saturday to maintain their No. 1 spot for another week in Michigan high school boys basketball.
The West Bloomfield Lakers (11-5) make an appearance at No. 25, but they have to face No. 2 North Farmington on Tuesday.

No. 1 St. Mary's Prep (15-1)
The Eaglets were able to dominate East Lansing 56-37 on Saturday. Standout junior guard Trey McKenney had a game high 28 points and eight rebounds in the victory. St. Mary’s Prep has to visit St. Francis de Sales (Ohio) next on February 6.
No. 2 North Farmington (14-1)
The Raiders were able to get back in the win column with a 67-43 victory over Oak Park on Thursday. 67 points is the second most North Farmington has scored in a game this season, only behind its 70 point performance against Farmington on December 6. The Raiders have five straight home games scheduled to close out the season, beginning with West Bloomfield on February 6.
No. 3 Dearborn (17-0)
Dearborn handled Livonia Stevenson by a score of 73-55 on Saturday. On Friday, the Pioneers were able to beat John Glenn 64-46, but it was their lowest scoring game since beating Detroit Catholic Central 52-48 on December 8. Dearborn is set to visit Fordson next on February 9.
No. 4 East Lansing (14-2)
East Lansing demolished Grand Ledge 83-45 on Tuesday before falling to St. Mary’s Prep 56-37 on Saturday. After beginning the season 14-0, the Trojans have now lost two of their last three games, albeit against top teams in Michigan. East Lansing will have a chance to right the ship when Everett comes to town on February 6.
No. 5 Warren Lincoln (13-3)
The Abes lost their third game of the season to East Kentwood by a score of 70-43 on Saturday. Senior guard Jamari Culliver led the Abes with 12 points and seven rebounds. It was their first loss since January 16 when they fell to Port Huron Northern 59-57. Warren Lincoln will try to bounce back when it hosts New Haven on February 5.
No. 6 Grand Rapids Christian (13-1)
The Eagles were able to beat Muskegon 60-51 on Saturday, led by senior forward Jaylan Ouwinga and his game-high 21 points. Since its 49-47 loss to Warren Lincoln on January 20, Christian has four games straight. The Eagles still have to play Grand Rapids Northview twice, but first they have to host Byron Center on February 6.
No. 7 Ann Arbor Huron (14-2)
The River Rats were able to beat Grand Rapids Northview 72-71 on Saturday. Junior guard Macari Moore led Ann Arbor Huron with 35 points, ten rebounds and eight assists. The River Rats are set to host Bedford next on February 6.
No. 8 Grand Rapids Northview (12-2)
Northview lost its second game of the season to Ann Arbor Huron by a score of 72-71 on Saturday. 72 is the most points the Wildcats have given up in a game this season, with the previous high of 67 coming in a win over Grand Rapids Catholic Central on December 9. Northview has to visit Lowell on February 6 before the first of two matchups against Grand Rapids Christian on February 9.
No. 9 U of D Jesuit (13-4)
The Cubs lost to De La Salle by a score of 57-56 on Tuesday, subsequently splitting their regular season series one to one. U of D was able to get back in the win column with a 70-49 win over Central Catholic (Ohio) on Friday. The Cubs have the opportunity to avenge one of their four losses when they visit Detroit Catholic Central next on February 6.
No. 10 Brother Rice (12-5)
The Warriors lost to St. Mary’s Prep 59-41 on Friday night. Brother Rice has now lost each of its last three games against St. Mary’s Prep dating back to the playoffs of last season. Brother Rice has a chance to enter the playoffs on a high note when it visits St. John’s Jesuit on February 6.
No. 11 De La Salle (11-6)
The Pilots ended a tumultuous January with a 57-56 win over U of D Jesuit on Tuesday. They were also able to follow it up with a 65-56 win over St. Francis de Sales on Friday. De La Salle is set to visit Central Catholic (Ohio) next on February 6.
No. 12 Detroit Catholic Central (11-6)
Catholic Central lost its second game in a row to St. Mary’s Prep by a score of 64-52 on Tuesday. The Shamrocks have just one game left on their regular season schedule, and it comes at home against U of D Jesuit on February 6.
No. 13 Cass Tech (14-1)
The Technicians easily beat Kalamazoo Central 59-42 on Saturday. Cass Tech has now won five games in a row since losing its only game of the season to Zeeland West on January 20. The only game left on Cass Tech’s schedule comes against Traverse City Central on February 10.
No. 14 Utica (16-0)
The Chieftains were able to handle Lake Shore by a score of 63-42 on Tuesday. Utica has two straight home games on the horizon, beginning with Lakeview on February 6, followed by Cousino on February 8.
No. 15 Whitehall (16-0)
Whitehall squeaked by Mona Shores with a 59-58 overtime win on Tuesday. The Vikings also beat Covenant Christian 67-59 on Friday. Whitehall has four home games in a row coming up, with the first one coming against Big Rapids on February 5.
No. 16 Rockford (13-3)
The Rams were able to beat Caledonia 56-46 on Friday. 46 points is the least Rockford has given up in a game since it beat Zeeland West 49-43 on December 28. The Rams are set to visit Grand Haven next on February 6
No. 17 Heritage (10-3)
The Hawks took care of Arthur Hill by a score of 84-57 on Friday night. 84 points is the most the Hawks have scored in a game this season, with the previous high of 81 coming in a win over Freeland on December 19. Heritage is set to host Mt. Pleasant next on February 6.
No. 18 Muskegon Reeths-Puffer (14-1)
The Rockets were able to beat rival Muskegon 63-45 on Tuesday, and they also beat Mona Shores 62-47 on Friday. The Rockets have won 11 games straight since losing to Hudsonville 64-52 on December 15. Reeths-Puffer is set to host Holland (2/6) and Muskegon (2/9) next.
No. 19 East Kentwood (10-5)
The Falcons downed Warren Lincoln 70-43 on Saturday. East Kentwood was led by senior forward Christian Humphrey-Rembert and his game-high 21 points and seven rebounds. The Falcons are set to host Jenison next on February 6.
No. 20 Muskegon (11-2)
The Big Reds lost two of their three games last week, including one against Muskegon Reeths-Puffer (63-45) and one against Grand Rapids Christian (60-51). Muskegon did however hammer Holland 79-24 in between those losses. Muskegon has to visit Mona Shores on February 6 before a rematch with Muskegon Reeths-Puffer on February 9.
No. 21 Summit Academy North (14-1)
Summit Academy North hasn’t played since it beat University Prep Art and Design (UPAD) 72-51 on January 26. It is scheduled to host Detroit Country Day next on February 6.
No. 22 Walled Lake Central (16-1)
Walled Lake Central was able to demolish Kettering 70-28 on Wednesday before also beating Lakeland on Friday by a score of 51-41. Seventy points against Kettering marked the highest scoring game for the Vikings since it put up 74 in a win over Mumford on December 29. The Vikings are set to visit rival Walled Lake Western next on February 9.
No. 23 Lansing Waverly (12-4)
Waverly defeated Everett on Tuesday (77-70) and Holt on Friday (86-74). Eighty-six points is the most the Warriors have scored in a game since it beat River Rouge 87-77 on December 28. The Warriors are set to visit Lansing Catholic next on February 6 before a meeting with East Lansing on February 9.
No. 24 Davison (10-3)
The Cardinals beat Flint Powers Catholic 77-66 on Tuesday before beating Grand Blanc 42-36 on Friday. 42 points is by far the lowest amount Davison has scored in a game this season, with the previous low of 63 coming against Grand Rapids Catholic Central on December 29. The Cardinals have to visit Midland next on February 6.
No. 25 West Bloomfield (11-5)
West Bloomfield was able to beat Ferndale 79-75 on Thursday night. Seventy-nine is the most points the Lakers have scored in a game since beating Renaissance 83-78 on December 30. The Lakers are set for a tough matchup against North Farmington next on February 6.
