Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Michigan Athlete of the Week from Feb. 12-18

Michigan High School Athlete of the Week nominees

Zander Woodruff, Laingsburg

Senior Zander Woodruff was on fire for Laingsburg as he finished with 52 points en route to a win over Freeland, 72-65. 

Graham Junge, Flat Rock

Junior guard Graham Junge had himself a career performance as he finished with 29 points, all in the first half, to surpass the 1,000 career-point mark in Flat Rock’s 73-40 win over Grosse Ile. 

Aidan Tague, Romeo

Romeo’s Aidan Tague did it all on Tuesday night as he notched a triple-double finishing with 13 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds while adding six steals in a 51-31 win against Sterling Heights Stevenson.

Carter Gensch, Hemlock

Senior Carter Gensch finished with a game-high 43 points as Hemlock secured a big win over Saginaw Swan Valley, 66-40. 

Stevie Elam, Adrian

Senior Steve Elam showcased his talents all week as he notched 33 points and 11 rebounds in a 64-46 win over Jackson before notching 37 points in a win over Jackson Northwest, 68-63. 

Grady Eklund, Pewamo-Westphalia

Sophomore Grady Eklund led the Pirates to a huge 56-54 win over Stanford Meridian as he finished with 31 points. 

Sydney Savoury, Belleville

Freshman guard Sydney Savoury showed why she’s a top freshman in the country for Belleville as she dropped 32 points in a win against Wayne Memorial. 

Mia McGregor, Mio

Freshman Mia McGregor finished with 43 points as Mio knocked off Whittemore-Prescott, 73-16. 

Averie Zinn, Genesee

Sophomore guard Averie Zinn continues to show she’s one of the best in the state as she finished with 53 points on Friday night, breaking the school record that she set just two weeks ago. 

Aubrey Rogers, Morrice

Senior guard/forward Aubrey Rogers notched a double-double as she finished with 32 points and 20 steals along with five rebounds and six assists in a dominating win over Atherton. 

Lillie Johnson, Gladstone

Sophomore Lillie Johnson had a dominant performance for Gladstone as she finished the game with 44 points and 14 rebounds while adding four steals and two assists in a 64-19 win against Gwinn. 


Emmalie Letts, Olivet

Senior Emmalie Letts recorded her third double-double of the season as she notched 20 points and 15 rebounds along with three blocks for Olivet in their win against Charlotte, 46-34.
