The Michigan high school boys basketball playoffs begin this week, and many of the top teams had big wins in conference play last week.

No. 1 Orchard Lake St. Mary's (20-1)

The Eaglets beat Cass Tech 73-41 in the annual Operation Friendship game on Saturday. The champion of the Catholic High School League (CHSL) has now beaten the champion of the Detroit Public School League (PSL) a record eight years in a row. After a first round bye, OLSM is set to play the winner of Walled Lake Northern and White Lake Lakeland (2/26) in the Division I district (25) semi-final on February 28. 

No. 2 East Lansing (20-2)

East Lansing won the Capital Area (Blue) league with a 68-55 win over Okemos on Friday. The Trojans will head into the Division I district tournament on a six game win streak. East Lansing gets a bye in the first round in district 12, and it awaits the winner of Holt and Lansing Everett’s game on February 26. 

No. 3 Dearborn (22-0)

Dearborn was able to beat Canton 65-52 on Friday. The undefeated Pioneers have a bye in the first round of the Division I district (19) tournament, and they will play in the semi-final next on February 28. Dearborn will play whoever comes out on top between Fordson and Melvindale on February 26. 

No. 4 Grand Rapids Christian (20-2)

The Eagles edged out Forest Hills Central for a 42-38 victory on Friday. Following a bye, Grand Rapids Christian will play next in the Division II district (45) semi-final game on February 28. The Eagles await the winner of Wyoming Kelloggsville and Grand River Prep (2/26). 

No. 5 Brother Rice (16-6)

Brother Rice was able to beat Renaissance 83-71 in the Operation Friendship consolation game on Saturday. The Warriors have a bye in the first round of the Division I district (29) tournament, and they already have Troy waiting for them in the final. First, Brother Rice will have to get by the winner of Seaholm and Bloomfield Hills (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 6 North Farmington (18-2)

North Farmington was able to beat Rochester Adams 43-38 on Tuesday. Heading into the Division I district (24) tournament, the Raiders will have a first round bye. On February 28, North Farmington is set to face the winner of Livonia Franklin and Southfield A&T on February 26. 

No. 7 Detroit Catholic Central (13-8)

Detroit Catholic Central hasn’t played since it beat Saginaw Heritage 77-67 on February 17. The Shamrocks have a bye in the opening round of the Division I district (14) tournament, and they’ll have to play the winner of Northville and South Lyon (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 8 U of D Jesuit (16-5)

The Cubs haven’t played since dominating Western International 90-44 on February 17. U of D have an automatic bid to the Division I district (21) semi-final game on February 28. The Cubs will play whoever comes out on top between Mumford and Hamtramck on February 26. 

No. 9 Muskegon (18-2)

Muskegon defeated Union 72-23 on Tuesday, as well as Wyoming 81-57 on Friday. The Big Reds enter the Division I district (4) tournament on an eight game win streak. After a first round bye, Muskegon is set to play in the semi-final game on February 28 against either Cedar Springs or Greenville. 

No. 10 De La Salle (13-7)

De La Salle was able to beat Utica 62-41 on Tuesday. The Pilots have a first round bye in the Division I district (22) tournament. On February 28, De La Salle will play the winner of St. Clair Shores Lakeview and Warren Woods Tower in the district semi-final. 

No. 11 Warren Lincoln (17-4)

Warren Lincoln hasn’t played since it lost to Grosse Pointe South 59-56 on February 17. The Abes have a bye in the first round of the Division II district (59) tournament, and they’ll play the winner of Pershing and Hazel Park (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 12 Cass Tech (20-2)

The Technicians beat Riverview Gabriel Richard 70-63 on Wednesday, but they lost to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s by a score of 73-41 in the Operation Friendship game on Saturday. After both teams have a bye, Cass Tech is set to play Grosse Pointe North in the Division I district (20) semi-final game on February 28. 

No. 13 West Bloomfield (16-5)

The Lakers were able to beat Groves 61-56 on Tuesday. West Bloomfield is entering the Division I district (25) tournament on an 11 game winning streak. West Bloomfield has a bye in the first round, but it will have to face the winner of Walled Lake Western and Walled Lake Central (2/26) in the semi-final game on February 28. 

No. 14 Saginaw Heritage (17-4)

The Hawks were able to win the final three games left on their regular season schedule, most recently downing Bay City Central 70-41 on Friday. Heritage has a bye in the first round of the Division I district (3) tournament. It awaits the winner of Flushing and Linden (2/26) in the semi-final game on February 28. 

No. 15 Ann Arbor Huron (18-4)

The River Rats lost to Saline 69-60 on Tuesday, but they got back in the win column with a 64-53 win over River Rouge on Friday. Ann Arbor Huron has a bye in the first round of the Division I district (13) tournament. The winner of Dexter and Jackson Northwest (2/26) will face the River Rats in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 16 East Kentwood (15-7)

The Falcons beat Caledonia 75-56 on Tuesday, but they lost to Grand Haven 46-43 on Friday. East Kentwood received an automatic bid to the Division I district (7) semi-final game on February 28. The Falcons await the winner of Jenison and Grandville on February 26. 

No. 17 Rockford (18-4)

Rockford demolished West Ottawa 63-40 on Tuesday, as well as Jenison on Friday by a score of 66-44. The Rams have a bye in the first round of the Division I district (6) tournament. The Rams are set to face whoever comes out on top between Coopersville and Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28.

No. 18 Byron Center (17-5)

Byron Center defeated Grand Rapids Northview on Tuesday 61-56, as well as Forest Hills Northern on Friday by a score of 46-44. The Bulldogs will enter the Division I district (7) tournament on an 11 game win streak. Byron Center awaits the conclusion of Hudsonville and Wyoming (2/26), and it will play the winner in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 19 Whitehall (22-0)

Whitehall ended its regular season undefeated after beating Oakridge 75-57 on Thursday. After a bye in the first round of the Division II district (42) tournament, the Vikings will play the winner of Montague and Spring Lake (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 20 Saline (18-4)

Saline was able to beat Ann Arbor Huron 69-60 on Tuesday, as well as Onsted 57-56 on Thursday. The Hornets have an automatic bid to the Division I district (16) semi-final on February 28. Saline awaits the winner of Belleville and Romulus on February 26.

No. 21 Grand Rapids Northview (16-5)

The Wildcats lost to Byron Center 61-56 on Tuesday, but they were able to get back in the win column with a 51-41 win over Greenville on Friday. Northview has a bye in the first round of the Division I district (6) tournament, and on February 28 it will play the winner of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern and Grand Rapids Union (2/26) in the semi-final. 

No. 22 Grosse Pointe South (18-4)

The Blue Devils dominated Denby 81-46 on Thursday. Grosse Pointe South is heading into the Division I district (20) tournament on a five game win streak. The Blue Devils are set to play the winner of Detroit Martin Luther King and Detroit Western International (2/26) in the semi-final game on February 28. 

No. 23 Summit Academy North (20-2)

Summit Academy North easily took care of Romulus on Thursday by a score of 83-52. Following a first round bye, Summit Academy North will take on either Grosse Ile or Taylor Prep in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 24 Troy (21-1)

The Colts were able to beat rival Troy Athens 50-45 on Saturday. The city rivals wound up in the same district (29) in the Division I district tournament after first round byes, and the two teams are set to rematch in the semi-final on February 28. 

No. 25 Davison (16-4)

Davison was able to win its final three games of the regular season, most recently beating Midland Dow 46-43 on Friday. The Cardinals have a bye in the first round of the Division I district (27) tournament, and they will play the winner of Holly and Lapeer (2/26) in the semi-final on February 28.
