Michigan High School Athlete of the Week nominees

Elijah Williams, Brother Rice

Sophomore forward Elijah Williams dropped 35 points on Saturday to lead Brother Rice in a big win against Renaissance, 83-71. 

Jonathan Sanderson, Saline

Sophomore guard Jonathan Sanderson continues to prove he’s a top player in the country as he finished with 44 points for Saline as they defeated rival Ann Arbor Huron, 69-60. 

Peter Kardasis, Rochester Adams

Senior Peter Kardasis notched a school record of 47 points to lead Rochester Adams in a big win over Detroit University Prep Science & Math, 79-66.

Macari Moore, Ann Arbor Huron

Junior guard Macari Moore had a career night as he finished with 30 points to surpass the 1,000 career-point mark as Ann Arbor Huron defeated River Rouge, 64-53. 

Durral Brooks, Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Senior guard and Michigan basketball commit Durral Brooks continued to showcase his talents as he dropped 35 points for Catholic Central as they knocked off Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, 77-58. 

Madison Morson, Plymouth Salem

Senior guard Madison Morson had herself a night as she finished with 47 points, eclipsing a school record, as Salem dominated Farmington Hills Mercy, 56-36. 

Aubrey Rogers, Morrice

For the second consecutive week, senior Aubrey Rogers had a dominant performance as she notched a triple-double, finishing with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals in a win against Burton Bendle. 

Riley Abney, Brandon

Senior guard Riley Abney had two great performances on the week for Brandon. On Tuesday, Abney notched a double-double as she finished with 33 points and 10 rebounds while adding five assists, five steals, and one block in a win over Holly. On Thursday, Abney finished with 35 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals despite a tough loss to Kearlsey, 57-55. 

Tambre Williams, Macomb Dakota

Senior forward Tambre Williams was dominant for Dakota as she finished with 14 points and 25 rebounds while adding six blocks, five steals, and four assists in a 60-54 loss to Anchor Bay. 

Ellie Neuhaus, Clio

Junior forward/center Ellie Neuhaus notched a double-double as she finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds along with seven assists, one steal, and one block as Clio defeated Swartz Creek, 69-61. 

Cameron Duffany, Brighton

Senior forward Cameron Duffany had an unreal performance on Saturday as he finished with seven goals to lead Brighton to a 9-1 Regional Semifinal win over Ann Arbor Pioneer. 


Garrett Hamp, Alpena

Junior forward Garrett Hamp finished with five goals for Alpena as they defeated Bay Area, 6-2, in a Regional Semifinal win. 

Justin Genzel, Gibraltar Carlson

Senior defender Justin Genzel notched a hat trick and more as he finished with three goals and two assists to lead Gibraltar Carlson to a 9-1 Regional Quarterfinal win against Brownstown Woodhaven. 


Mason Wines, Salem

Sophomore goalkeeper Mason Wines notched 23 saves on 23 shots on goal while allowing not a single goal to help Salem over Plymouth, 2-0.
