See the final rankings of the season as teams enter the playoffs

The Michigan girls high school basketball regular season came to an end last week, and the District tournaments begins on Monday, March 4.

No. 1 Rockford (21-1)

Not a lot of changes at the top this week, but we do have some shakeup at the bottom. Rockford continued their dominance and they remain the top team in our rankings.

No. 2 Gabriel Richard (22-0)

Gabriel Richard is one step closer to achieving a perfect season. With playoff season upon us, the road will start to get more difficult.

No. 3 West Bloomfield (20-1)

After losing a game earlier this season, West Bloomfield has responded as well as possible. They are clearly one of the best teams in the state. 

No. 4 Grand Rapids West Catholic (21-1)

Grand Rapids West Catholic is playing as well as anybody and they will be fun to watch in the playoffs. This team is coming for it all.

No. 5 Goodrich (22-0)

Another week, another perfect mark for Goodrich. Would they hang with our top teams in the state? Maybe not, but their undefeated record is extremely impressive and worthy of a good ranking.

No. 6 Orchard Lake St. Mary's (21-0)

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s had another good week to remain perfect as well. We’ll see if anyone can survive the entire season without a blemish.

No. 7 East Kentwood (19-3)

Coming in at No. 7 is East Kentwood. This team seems to be flying under the radar a bit, but they have been tough to beat all season long.

No. 8 Negaunee (21-1)

Negaunee continues to play impressive basketball and they continue to win. They have only lost one game this year, and they don’t want to suffer another.

No. 9 Detroit Renaissance (19-3)

It’s been an exciting season for Detroit Renaissance and they are up to #9 this week in our rankings. They are good enough to compete with anybody.

No. 10 Ispheming (22-1)

Ishpeming has done a great job of getting back on track after suffering their first loss. The ability to bounce back says a lot about a team’s character.

No. 11 Chelsea (19-4)

Chelsea has come out of nowhere in recent weeks and they have almost made it into the top-10. We’ll see if they can keep it up.

No. 12 Frankenmuth (20-2)

Frankenmuth surges up to No. 12 this week after a huge win vs. Detroit Edison. It was a great game, and a great win to boost their resume.

No. 13 Detroit Edison (25-3)

Edison falls back a few spots after the loss to Frankenmuth. They played hard and it was a close game, but they came up a little bit short.

No. 14 Belleville (20-2)

Belleville took care of business this week and they improved to 20-2 on the season. This team has been fun to watch this year.

No. 15 Brandywine (20-1)

A lot of people are doubting this Brandywine team, but they have won a lot of basketball games this season. This is a very talented team.

No. 16 DeWitt (19-3)

Another good week for DeWitt as they took care of business to bring their record to 19-3. This team has the potential to make some noise.

No. 17 Detroit County Day (17-5)

Detroit Country Day seems to always make some noise in the playoffs. We’ll see if that is again the case this season. They have a lot of talent. 

No. 18 Arbor Prep (18-4)

Arbor Prep was ranked in the top-10 for much of the season, but a recent skid saw a drop. They seem to have their footing, however, and they are playing good basketball at the right time.

No. 19 Byron Center (18-4)

Byron Center is quietly holding onto an 18-4 record. They might not be ready to compete with the best of the best, but they are very good.

No. 20 Grand Haven (17-5)

Grand Haven is an interesting team as they have five losses, but they have also played a very difficult schedule. This is a battle-tested squad.

No. 21 Elk Rapids (20-2)

Elk Rapids is on a tear right now and they are heating up at the right time. We’ll see how far they can last.

No. 22 Bedford (20-2)

Bedford has a lot of good athletic teams, and the girl’s basketball team is one of them. This team is as advertised, and they are playing great right now.

No. 23 Grand Blanc (17-4)

It was an interesting week for Grand Blanc. They picked up a huge win over Dow, but they also lost 67-28 to West Bloomfield. That just goes to show how good the teams at the top are.

No. 24 West Ottawa (15-6)

Another team that suffered defeat this past week was West Ottawa as they lost a tough one to Central. They did rebound with a nice win later in the week, though.

No. 25 Dow (19-3)

Dow slides down after their loss to Grand Blanc, but they also rebounded nicely with a win. They are clinging to the final spot in the rankings.
