How the top 25 Minnesota high school football teams fared in week 5

Four top-10 teams fell in a dramatic week in Minnesota football

1. Rosemount (5-0)

Defeated No. 5 Lakeville South 10-7

Rosemount quarterback Landon Danner ran for a 4-yard touchdown with 5:45 left in the third quarter to tie the game at seven. Both defenses held until Rosemount kicker Maxwell Ritter hit a 35-yard field goal with 1:38 left in the fourth quarter.

2. Maple Grove (5-0)

Defeated No. 21 Champlin Park 43-14

Maple Grove's offense dominated the Rebels. Quarterback Jacob Kilzer rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Jordan Olagbaju rushed for 122 yards and and three touchdowns. 

Champlin Park scored its first touchdown and tied the game at 7-7 with 10 minutes, 10 seconds left in the first quarter, but the Rebels did not score again until 2:54 remained in the fourth quarter.

3. Stillwater (5-0)

Defeated No. 17 White Bear Lake 35-28

4. Eden Prairie (4-1)

Defeated No. 6 Prior Lake 28-14

Tyler Walden ran for two touchdowns as Eden Prairie rebounded after last week's loss to Rosemount. 

5. Lakeville South (3-2)

Lost to No. 1 Rosemount 10-7

6. Prior Lake (4-1)

Lost to No. 4 Eden Prairie 28-14

7. Woodbury (4-1)

Lost to East Ridge 28-0

The Royals fall for the first time this season, as they get shut out by rival East Ridge. 

8. Shakopee (4-1)

Defeated Lakeville North 27-21

The Sabers forced the game into overtime, and a six yard touchdown run from Jadon Hellerud gave the Sabers the win.

9. Forest Lake (5-0)

Defeated Hopkins 72-7

Forest Lake led 37-0 after the first quarter. 

10. Minnetonka (3-2)

Lost to St. Michael-Albertville 24-10

Minnetonka entered halftime up 10-0, but St Michael-Albertville recovered two Minnetonka fumbles and returned them for touchdowns to take a 14-10 lead in the fourth quarter.

Sam Anderson ran for a 17-yard touchdown to give STMA a 17-10 lead.

11. Mankato West (5-0)

Defeated No. 19 Rochester Mayo 28-24

Mankato West scored 14 points in the third quarter to take and hold onto the game and the win.

12. St. Thomas Academy (5-0)

Defeated Irondale 38-7

Running backs Savion Hart and Love Adebayo combined for three rushing touchdowns as the Cadets rolled to 5-0. 

St. Thomas Academy cruised to a 42-7 season-opening victory over South St. Paul on September 1, 2022 in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

13. Chanhassen (4-1)

Lost to No. 16 Robbinsdale Armstrong 34-29

Robbinsdale Armstrong sprinted to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, but Chanhassen scored the next three touchdowns to tie the game at 21 in the third quarter. Robbinsdale Armstrong scored in the fourth quarter and Chanhassen answered and converted a 2-point conversion to take a one-point lead. Robbinsdale Armstrong was able to drive down and score the game-winning touchdown with 22 seconds left in the game.

14. Mahtomedi (5-0)

Defeated Spring Lake Park 35-21

Corey Bohmert finished with three touchdowns as the Zephyrs continued their undefeated season with a convincing win over Spring Lake Park.

15. Elk River (5-0)

Defeated Rogers 35-14

Quarterback Case Osterman ran 13 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns while teammates Miles Gordon and Logan Bunked added 70 and 66 rushing yards, respectively. 

16. Robbinsdale Armstrong (5-0)

Defeated No. 13 Chanhassen 35-29

Robbinsdale Armstrong sprinted to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, but Chanhassen scored the next three touchdowns to tie the game at 21 in the third quarter. Defeated Totino-Grace 34-7

Frank Daniels threw three touchdown passes in Blaine's easy win over Totino-Grace.

23. Sauk Rapids-Rice (5-0)

Defeated Bemidji 37-23

24. Rocori (5-1)

Lost at Hutchinson 38-14

A.J. Ladwig and Levi Teetzel rushed for three and two touchdowns, respectively.

25. Becker (4-1)

Defeated Big Lake 49-6
