Track & Field

Carter Holcomb, Rochester Mayo

The junior won the 110-meter hurdles (39-inch) at the Mayo Dick Norman Invitational with a personal best time of 14.84 seconds. That’s the second-fastest time in the state. 

He also took first in the 300-meter hurdles (36-inch) with a personal best and the fourth-fastest time in Minnesota (40.34 seconds). His 4x200 meter relay team took second with the ninth-best time in the state (1:31.09 seconds).

Hayden Bills, Rosemount

At the Howard Wood Dakota Relays, the senior threw the 12-pound shot put 61 feet, 11.5 inches – a new personal best and best throw in the state. He also set the new high mark for himself and the state, tossing the 1.6-kilogram discus 198 feet, 11 inches.

Tayven Peterson, Mora

The senior won the 110-meter hurdles at the Craig Johnshoy Invite on May 2 with a personal best time of 15 seconds. 

He then won the 300-meter hurdles two days later at the Chuck Johnson Invitational with another personal best and the third-fastest time in the state (40.26).

Jordyn Borsch, Maple Grove

The senior won the 100-meter dash at the Crimson Invitational on May 2, posting the fastest time in the state (12.06). 

She also won the 200-meter dash, setting the high mark in the state for the season at 24.59 seconds.

Lucy Hiller, Minnetonka

The senior, who already has the best triple jump in Minnesota, won the long jump at the Wayzata Relays, May 5. Her 18-foot, 3.75-inch long jump was a personal best and is third-longest in the state. 

She also took second in the 200-meter dash at the Minnesota Open High School Spring Invitational, May 3. Her personal best time of 25.9 seconds is good for eighth-best in Minnesota.

Lacrosse

Sofia Watts, Cretin-Derham Hall

The junior midfielder scored eight goals in a 19-4 win at Roseville on May 3, and she had six goals and two assists in a 19-0 drubbing of Irondale on May 5. Her 43 goals are the most in Minnesota.

Hannah Duffee, St. Croix Prep

The sophomore goaltender stopped all five shots on goal in a 20-0 rout of Minneapolis, May 2, saved five of six in a 19-5 win at Tartan/North St. Paul the next day, stopped eight of 17 shots in a 12-9 win over Mounds View, May 6, and made 11 saves on 25 shots in a 14-11 victory at Visitation, May 8. Her eight wins are tied for the most in the state.

Joey Stolpestad, TrIMAC

The senior had seven goals and an assist in an 18-14 loss at Totino-Grace on May 2, had four goals and five assists in a 19-11 at Holy Family on May 4, and five goals and an assists in a 13-9 win at Mounds View on May 8. His 37 goals are the most in Minnesota.

Grant Penttinen, Chanhassen

The senior goaltender made 14 saves on 20 shots in a 13-6 win at Maple Grove, May 5. He had two other wins on the week, allowing just two goals on eight shots faced. 

His seven wins are tied for second-most in the state.

James Keiser, Totino-Grace

The senior committed to Carthage College had seven goals in an 18-8 win at Andover on May 1, had seven more points, with four goals and three assists in an 18-14 win over TrIMAC the next day, and he had four goals in a 12-8 win at Bloomington Kennedy/Burnsville on May 4. 

He sits third in Minnesota with 31 goals scored.
