Minnesota high school football is over, and many players stood out in the 2023 Class 4A season.

SBLive has chosen 15 standout athletes who had top seasons in 2023.

SBLive's Minnesota high school football 2023 All-State defense

Anton Kadlec – Hutchinson

Kadlec, at 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, was a major reason why Hutchinson had another year of dominance. He led an offense that rushed for 270 yards per game.

Mason Carrier – Detroit Lakes

Carrier possesses great closing speed and he can cover every part of the field. He finished with over 80 tackles and 10 tackles for loss. He’s committed to Minnesota.

Ray James – DeLaSalle

James was the Islanders' key playmaker this season. He finished with 55 total tackles and two forced fumbles on defense. On offense, he finished with 47 attempts for 428 yards and five touchdowns.

Will Steil – Rocori

Steil is one of the best overall players in the state. As a quarterback, Steil finished with 1,344 passing yards, 1,039 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. On defense, Steil had 48 total tackles and four interceptions.

Nirvaan Yogarajah – Benilde-St. Margaret's

Yogarajah finished with the second most yards in the state and the most in Class 4A with 3,297. He completed 71.5 percent of his passes, and he threw 28 touchdowns. 

Bryce Peterson – Delano

Peterson threw the most passes in Class 4A and he completed 56 percent of them. He finished with 2,517 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Ray Beiningen – Mound Westonka

Beiningen led Class 4A in rushing yards in nine games with 1,577 yards. He also had a Class-4A leading 27 rushing touchdowns. 

Sean Washington – Benilde-St. Margaret's

Washington was explosive every time he touched the ball. The sophomore finished with 8.2 yards per carry, 1,425 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. 

Nathan Thode – Hutchinson

Thode was one of the best all-around players in Class 4A. Thode took over the primary ball carrier duties for the Tigers during the season and finished with 1,204 rushing yards at 7.1 yards per attempt and 15 touchdowns. On defense, he finished with seven interceptions for 45 total tackles.

Jake Schultz – Delano

Schultz was a big reason why Delano's passing game was one of the best in Class 4A. His 1,201 receiving yards is top in Class 4A, and his 14 receiving touchdowns and 70 receptions also leads the state.

Rory Wyatt – Minneapolis Henry

Wyatt was in the opposing backfield all season. He finished with the most tackles for loss in Class 4A (22). He also finished with 72 total tackles and seven forced fumbles.

Aaron Baisley – Rocori

Baisley was the leading total tackler in Class 4A. He finished with 141 total tackles on the Class 4A runner-up.

Andy Pedroza – Rocori

Pedroza was one of the best defensive backs in Class 4A. He finished with the most interceptions in the class with seven. Pedroza also had 50 total tackles and four tackles for loss.

Brady McPherson – Orono

McPherson led Class 4A in sacks with nine for a 9-2 Spartans team. He also finished with 73 total tackled and one interception for a touchdown. 

Liam Rodgers – Orono

Rodgers had the second-most rushing yards in Class 4A. He had 1,461 rushing yards at 132.8 per game. He scored 15 rushing touchdowns.
