MINNESOTA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL SCORES

The following athletes will be included in our "Who is the top guard in Minnesota high school girls basketball?" poll to be posted on Friday. Our lists and polls are intended to be fun and in no way discredits any other player who may not be mentioned.

Top guards in Minnesota high school girls basketball

Laura Hauge, senior, St Croix Lutheran Academy

Hauge is one of the top 3-point shooters in the state. On December 12 against Trinity, Hauge broke the state record for 3-point shots made in a career with 459. She’s scored around 2,400 points in her career, and she’s been named the most valuable player in her conference three years in a row.

Bra’ja Torry, junior, Eastview

Torry is having a great season, averaging 7.5 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, 6.5 assist and four steals.

“She is a true point guard, looking to get other people their shots and trying for double digits assists on a given night,” Eastview head coach Molly Kasper said. “On top of that she is a shifty, quick on the ball defender. She is on pace to have our program's best season in steals and assists.”

Aneisha Scott, junior, DeLaSalle

Scott is one of the top players in the 2023-24 season. She is a 1,000 career point scorer, and she’s averaging 16 points per game and five assists so far this season.

Maddyn Greenway, sophomore, Providence Academy

The sophomore’s stat line reads as such: 34.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 4.5 steals per game. She is approaching 3,000 career points as just a sophomore.

“Maddyn is one of the top players in the country,” head coach Connor Goetz said. “She has performed her best against some of the best talent in the state. She's scored 40 or more in 6 games this season and scored 30 or more in another six games this season.”

Brynlea Mahlen, senior, Fosston

Mahlen is averaging 19 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and five Assists per game this year. She has signed to play with University of Minnesota, Crookston.

“Brynlea has developed into a quality leader on and off the floor over the last two years,” Fosston coach Kelly Viken said. “She has demonstrated not only increased maturity in her decision making, but also become someone that we as coaching staff rely on to make in-game decisions in real time situations that has helped the team to be successful with a 13-1 record as of January 19. She carries her positive attitude and great work ethic into her school and community.”

Jordan Ode, junior, Maple Grove

Ode is committed to Michigan State. She’s averaging 20.2 points per game this season.

“Jordan is one of the most dominant guards in the state of Minnesota,” Maple Grove coach Mark Cook said. “She surpassed 1000 points this season and is on pace to become the schools all time leading scorer. She has an incredibly well rounded game as she is also one of the leaders on the team in assists, rebounds, and blocks.”

Jensyn Storhoff, sophomore, Lanesboro

The sophomore guard is currently averaging 15.6 points, 4.9 assists and 5.6 steals per game this season.

“Jensyn has an astounding IQ for the game and is an unselfish player who is always looking to involve her teammates,” Lanesboro head coach Steve Storhoff said. “She can score from all levels, rebound, cause havoc on defense and has incredible composure on the court, particularly during the most challenging times.”

Ma'Lon McCoy, freshman, St. Agnes

The freshman has already established herself as a presence in Minnesota high school girls basketball. She is averaging 13.3 points per game, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

“Having the ability to play any position 1-5, Ma'Lon is a matchup nightmare for most opponents with her ability to shoot the 3, finish through contact off the dribble at the rim, and crash the boards for second chance points,” St. Agnes head coach Tommy Boyd said. “ Already with multiple 20-point+ performances, Ma'Lon is still growing/developing and will serve as a major problem for opponents for many years to come.”

Malani Sandifer, senior, St. Agnes

Sandifer is also a standout for the Aggies at 10.4 points per game, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals.

“Malani is a two-time all-conference and team MVP for the Aggies,” Boyd said. “Malani's ability to shoot the 3 and finish with her signature floater in the lane allows the Aggies to stretch the floor and collapse the defense, opening up more opportunities for teammates to succeed alongside her.”

Telilie Lange, sophomore, Willmar

Lange is the point guard for Willmar, and head coach Brendan Hedtke calls her “the engine that runs our team.” She is averaging 11.2 points, 3.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 steals per game.

“She brings a wealth of experience at such a young age,” Willmar coach Brendan Hedtke said. “She carries an immense load for us on both sides of the ball. She is the main ball handler for our offense and does a great job of getting our team into the offense and playing with great pace.”

Morgan Hulke, junior, New Ulm

Hulke is having a stellar junior season by averaging 17.5 points per game and 4.1 rebounds.

“This is her third year on the varsity and she was our leading scorer her freshman year, second in scoring her sophomore year, and is again our leading scorer this season,” head coach Julie Rogers said. “She celebrates her teammate's victories, encourages others when things aren’t going well, and is the teammate doing everything she can to ensure we succeed together.”

Jordan Zubich, senior, Mountain Iron-Buhl

Zubich is a lock as one of the top players in Minnesota high school girls basketball. The senior is committed to North Carolina.

Through 17 games this season, she had 465 points (27.4 PPG), 155-311 2 pt FG(50%), 74-147 3 pt (50%), 77 rebounds, and 103 assists. Zubich became the second person in school history to get to 3,000 points and she is now the schools all-time leading scorer.

“Jordan has been a 5 year starter and has led our team to three state tournaments, including a state championship her junior year,” Mountain Iron-Buhl head coach Jeff Buffetta said. “Jordan is a two time All State player and a two time team captain. Jordan has worked very hard at her skills her entire high school career and has become a true leader for her team.”

Mya Wilson, freshman, Hill-Murray

Through 16 games this season, as just a freshman, Wilson had averaged 18.4 points per game and 10.9 rebounds.

“Mya is a dominant varsity player,” head coach Erin Herman. “She handles the ball with both hands, can score inside and outside, is an excellent finisher with both hands and has an excellent jump shot.”

Mya has at least 10 Division I offers at this point, including multiple Big Ten Schools, according to Herman.

Tori McKinney, senior, Minnetonka

McKinney is a senior for the Skippers helping them to a currently undefeated season. She’s averaging 14.4 points per game, according to stats submitted to MNgirlsbasketballhub.com. She is committed to the University of Minnesota.

Addison Mack, junior, Minnehaha Academy

Mack is one of the top scorers in the state this season at 31 points per game. Mack is a 3,000 career point scorer, and her speed and ball handling allows her to get to the basket at will.

Sam Wills, junior, Visitation

Class 2A Minnesota high school girls basketball is full of talent, and Wills is not to be overlooked. The junior is the leading scorer for Visitation, and she’s the No. 5-ranked junior in the state, according to Prep Girls Hoops.

Tori Oehrlein, sophomore, Crosby-Ironton

In 18 games on MNgirlsbasketabllhub.com, Oehrlein is averaging 37.7 points per game on 56 percent shooting from the field.

Lanelle Wright, sophomore, Minnetonka

Wright was voted SBLive’s top “glue girl” as a freshman last season, and in her sophomore year, she’s become far more than that. Her skills as a guard translate to both offense and defense. She had six steals in a game against Prior Lake

Elisabeth Gadient, senior, Goodhue

Gadient is a 1,000 point scorer currently averaging 25 points per game, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. She was the HVL Conference Player of the Year last season and was also named to the Class 2A All State Tournament Team last year after leading her team to a third place finish.

“Elisabeth is well known for being such a smooth player on the court who has tremendous range with her shot and a flair for highlight reel types of play,” Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme said. “For her to be recognized last year as the HVL Player of the Year in a league that has Stewartville, Byron, Kasson-Mantorville, Lourdes, and more, really shows what kind of standout she is. She is without a doubt a top player in the state, and I hope everyone gets the chance to see her again in the state tournament this March.”

Amy Thompson, senior, Stillwater

Thompson is one of the top scorers in Class 4A. She scored 29 points in the Class 4A quarterfinal win against Lakeville North. She's at 24.2 points per game so far this season. She’s committed to South Florida. She was a McDonald's All-American nominee.

Rylie Cother, junior, Jackson County Central
