Minnesota High School Athlete of the Week nominees
Easton Bosch, New Prague
The senior forward only has six goals on the year thus far, but his last one could not have come at a more perfect time. Bosch buried a puck in the back of the net early into overtime, sealing a 5-4 win for his team over Rochester Century/John Marshall
Kole Kronstedt, Duluth East
Facing a powerful Rock Ridge attack that is among the best in the state, Kronstedt put on a lights out performance. The senior goalie saved 25 of the 26 shots that came his way, earning Duluth East a 2-1 victory versus one of the best Class A teams out there.
Johnny Conlin, Mounds View
Conlin recently eclipsed 150 career points for the Mustangs, an accolade that could get him on this list in and of itself. Nonetheless, the seven goals he has scored across his last three games have certainly helped as well.
Taven James, Warroad
The junior forward chose a great time to notch his first career hat trick. Facing a powerhouse Roseau team with one of the best forwards in the state, James made sure the Warrior offense was humming, scoring three goals en route to a convincing 6-2 win.
Aiden Grossklaus, Woodbury
Woodbury has struggled at times on the attack this year, but Grossklaus has been consistent at his worst, and downright incredible at his best. The junior forward is fresh off a five point effort on three goals and two assists, a breakout game that helped Woodbury put up eight goals and a win versus Forest Lake
John Stout, Minnetonka
Another Skipper that had a career day, Stout was at his finest defensively, manning a crew that allowed only five shots in three periods versus Chaska.
Owen Quist, Mankato East
Quist was a force on the power play, a trait that gave Mankato East a big leg up on its competition. He netted his second goal of the game in overtime, granting East a 7-6 overtime victory against Fergus Falls.
Noah Gillette, La Crescent-Hokah
Sometimes I wonder if Gillette and the Lancers will ever slow down. In a 13-0 rout over Fairmont, Gillette led the charge with four goals and an assist, pushing his season point total to 63 in the process.
Charlie Wieser, La Crescent-Hokah
The Lancer attack gets plenty of press, but guys like Wieser help keep this team in the win column, especially when things get down to the wire. The sophomore net protector has gone 10-0 as a starter this year, including a 18-save shutout performance against Fairmont, his first of the season.
Lily Peterfeso, Roseville/Mahtomedi
Peterfeso was a problem for White Bear Lake this past week, blanking the Bears through two-and-a-half periods in her most recent game. When it was all said and done, Peterferso and her team hung on for the decisive 4-1 victory.
Ali Fider, Minneapolis
In a barnburner of a game, Fider was dominant to say the least. The senior goalie stopped all 26 shots that went her way, earning the win and a shutout in what proved to be a narrow 1-0 victory for Minneapolis.
Tegan Swanson, Eden Prairie
Swanson may not have earned the victory against Minnetonka, but her performance is worth talking about nonetheless. She saved 51 of the 53 shots that came her way, holding the Skippers to only two goals in a game in which she finished with an impressive .962 save percentage.
Alexis Ulrich, Breck
Ulrich hasn’t even entered high school yet, but she has already left her legacy on Breck’s hockey program. The eighth grade defenseman was instrumental in Breck’s recent 2-0 victory over Luverne, as she helped hold her opponent to a measly 13 shots on goal all game.
Kaiden Fitterer, Hutchinson
Hutchinson’s brick wall of a goalie only continued to stifle and stump opposing attacks this past week. Fitterer walled off 49 shots across three periods against Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, earning her team a 2-0 victory as well as putting together one of the best single-game performances in recent memory.
Grace Karakas, Duluth
Being a part of any goal your team scores during a game is an impressive feat, and Karakas did just that. She scored two goals and one assist in what proved to be a tight, 3-2 win for her team over Rock Ridge.
Kaitlin Groess, Centennial/Spring Lake Park
Another goalie who put together a clinic this past week, Groess was dominant in her last game versus Champlin Park/Coon Rapids. The senior strung together a 30-save shutout, a performance that proved to be the difference in a 4-0 win for her team.
Lily Peltier, Mounds View/Irondale
Excellent games in the net seemed to be the theme for this week, and Peltier was no exception to this rule. The senior stepped up this week against Anoka, logging an impressive 32-save shutout, her first of the year that helped lift Mounds View/Irondale to a 4-0 victory.
Brett Siroin, St. Anthony
Siroin has been impressive for the Huskies all year, but his most recent performance has to be his best so far. He put up 32 points in a back-and-forth game, giving St. Anthony the X-factor in what ended up being a 101-88 win versus Becker.
Korde Roseman, Brainerd
In a game where Roseman quite literally couldn’t have done better, his perfect performance ended up being the difference. The guy had 21 points on a perfect 9-for-9 shooting from the field, and Brainerd won a 73-72 nailbiter thanks to this unbelievable showcase.
Jordan Borowicz, Roseau
In a game in which his team was stifled to only 55 points and no other player scored more than seven, Borowicz tried his best to keep his squad in the game. The guy scored 28 points, yet even so, the Rams still fell by a final score of 82-55.
Aaliyah Crump, Minnetonka
Facing a solid Providence Academy team, Minnetonka needed its best scorers at their best, and Crump was among the athletes to answer the call. The junior guard netted 27 points for her team, helping Minnetonka control the game until the final buzzer.
Haylie Jerde, Cambridge-Isanti
The most efficient scorer on her team this past week, Jerde was a problem for opposing defenses when the ball was in her hands. The senior scored 27 points on an impressive 10-for-18 shooting, helping Cambridge-Isanti get within three points of defeating a strong Brainerd program.
Chloe Johnson, Duluth Marshall
Johnson and Duluth Marshall were nigh-unstoppable in their last game versus International Falls. In what proved to be a 106-48 rout, Johnson finished with a triple-double that consisted of 25 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, all on 8-for-11 shooting.
Rhyan Holmgren, St. Peter
In close contests like the one St. Peter had this past week, all it takes is one athlete to change the game, and thankfully for St. Peter, Holmgren was ready for the moment. She put up 25 points in what proved to be a low-scoring affair, as St. Peter narrowly snared a 71-67 win from the jaws of the Delano Tigers.
