MINNEAPOLIS — The No. 1-seed Hopkins Royals play the No. 4-seed Maple Grove Crimson in the MSHSL Class 4A girls high school basketball semifinals at Williams Arena.

FINAL: Hopkins 84, Maple Grove 78

In a game where Maple Grove outshoots the Royals, it's turnovers (Hopkins +5) and offensive rebounds (Hopkins +4) that made the difference. Hopkins' Erma Walker scored a game-high 30 points. Jordan Ode led Maple grove with 21 points.

SECOND HALF UPDATES

Maple Grove misses a layup, and Hopkins' Tatum Woodson hits one free throw after the Crimson foul her. Hopkins leads 82-78 with 18 seconds remaining. Hopkins' ball.

Maple Grove has cut the lead to six, 77-71, with 2:38 remaining.

Hopkins extended its lead to 13 points, but Maple Grove has cut the lead to eight with 4:51 remaining.

Nine minutes remain and Hopkins has been close to extending its lead to just over double-digits, but Maple Grove stays within range — Hopkins 65, Maple Grove 54 — 8:50 remains

Hopkins with some success with a full-court press early this half. The Royals lead 43-36 with 16:37 remaining.

The Royals were on a run to end the half, but Maple Grove hits a late and-1, and Ava Cossette hits a deep 3-point shot to tie the game at the buzzer. 

FIRST HALF UPDATES

Two minutes remain in the first half and the game is tied at 30.

Maple Grove goes on a 5-0 run. Hopkins leads 23-22 with 5:53 remaining.

Hopkins leads 13-8 with 10:54 remaining in the half.
