Nolan Groves hit a half-court buzzer beater to send Orono to the Minnesota boys high school basketball state tournament

Not once. Not twice. But three times.

The Orono Spartans defeated the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights 86-84 in the Minnesota boys high school basketball Class 3A, Section 6 championship after Nolan Groves hit the third buzzer beater of the game.

Down 70-67 with 2.4 seconds remaining, Benilde-St. Margaret's Jaleel Donley hit a deep three to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Orono's Brady Wooley sent the game to a second overtime with a layup.

In the second overtime, Groves' half-court heave sent the Spartans to the 2024 MSHSL boys basketball state tournament. Groves finished with 45 points.
