The No. 1 Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights (23-8) defeated the No. 5 Alexandria Area Cardinals (25-5) 60-52 in the 2025 Minnesota (MSHSL) high school girls basketball state tournament Class 3A semifinals on Thursday at Williams Arena.

Benilde-St, Margaret's Sydney Friedly scored 20 points to lead all scorers. She went 5-of-7 from the 3-point line to lead the Red Knights to their third-straight Class 3A title game, both of which they've won.

Hadley Thul led Alexandria with 18 points and nine rebounds.

FIRST HALF UPDATES

Alexandria wins the opening tip-off and we're underway.

Four minutes into the game and B-SM has an 9-6 lead. Hadley Thul with all six points for Alexandria.

The Red Knights are hot on offense. They've made 5-of-6 recently and they have a 17-10 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Sydney Friedly with six points.

Alexandria responds. It's 19-17 B-SM lead with eight minutes remaining. Thul with six points and three rebounds.

Alexandria is scoreless over the past four minutes. The Red Knights lead 26-17 with 4:31 remaining.

The Cardinals' scoreless run continues. The Red Knights are up to a 29-17 lead with 2:47 remaining.

HALFTIME: Benilde-St. Margaret's 34, Alexandria 20

The Red Knights pulled away in the final minutes of the second half as they forced turnovers and pushed the pace. Benilde-St. Margaret's outscored the Cardinals 15-3 in the final seven minutes of the first half.

Sophomore Sydney Friedly scored 11 points in the first half for the Red Knights.

SECOND HALF UPDATES

The second half is underway.

Six minutes into the second half and the Red Knights lead 42-28.

The Red Knights continue with how they finished the first half. A 7-0 run gives them a 50-32 lead with 8:16 remaining.

Friedly continues to bury threes for S-SM. He is 4-for-6 and the Red Knights have a 53-37 lead with 5:22 remaining.

Alexandria on a 13-3 run to cut the lead to 53-45 with 3:45 remaining. Chloe Scholl with five points over the run.

Two minutes remain, and scoring has come to a halt over the past two minutes. Lead is 54-45 B-SM.

The Red Knights held off Alexandria in the final minutes. Thul scored five points in the final two minutes, but it wasn't enough.
