HOW THE TOP 10 FARED (NOV. 20)

1. Oak Grove (11-0) beat No. 6 Harrison Central 41-14

Daz returned two fumbles for touchdowns as the Warriors dominated in all phases. They will play Northwest Rankin in the 6A South Final. -- GAME STORY

2. Oxford (11-0) beat Hernando 41-26

The win streak is now at 24 in a row. And for the second consecutive year, the Chargers will be playing for a 6A North Championship. -- GAME STORY

3. D’Iberville (10-1) lost to Northwest Rankin 29-28

In a thrilling ballgame, Northwest Rankin scored with 1:13 left to knock off unbeaten D'Iberville. The Warriors never trailed ... until the final 1:13.

4. Clinton (10-2) beat Warren Central 18-14

In another thriller, Caleb Miller scored the game-winning touchdown with 1:09 to play, giving Clinton its first lead of the game. The Arrows will play Oxford for the North State Championship.

5. Ridgeland (10-2) beat No. 7 Neshoba Central 32-29

Zy McDonald connected with Richard Mays on an 11-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter, and the Ridgeland defense held Neshoba Central scoreless in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.

6. Harrison Central (8-3) lost to No. 1 Oak Grove 41-14

Harrison Central held Kabe Barnett to just 5 of 12 passing for 124 yards and a touchdown, and the Red Rebels dominated time of possession 29:21 to 18:39. But the Red Rebels' offense never got going against the top-ranked team in the state. -- GAME STORY

7. Neshoba Central (9-2) lost to No. 5 Ridgeland 32-29

Jarquez Hunter accounted for all four touchdowns for Neshoba Central — including a TD pass on a halfback pass — but the Rockets couldn't find the end zone in the fourth quarter.

8. West Jones (11-2) beat No. 9 Laurel 42-21

The third time was the charm for West Jones quarterback Alan Follis “between the bricks” at Laurel High. After losing to their cross-county rival as the visiting team in 2018 and again earlier this year, Follis and the Mustangs are headed back to the 5A South State Final for the third year in a row. — GAME STORY

9. Laurel (7-4) lost to No. 8 West Jones 42-21

Dexter Scott Jr., playing a game just days after the death of his father, Dexter Scott Sr., completed 18 of his 33 pass attempts for 190 yards with one touchdown through the air and another on the ground in Laurel’s loss to West Jones.

“I’ve seen a lot of things in 17 years,” Laurel coach Ryan Ernest said. “What Dexter Scott did tonight is the bravest thing I’ve ever seen on a football field. I mean, three days after losing his father, to come out here and play a game of this magnitude — he’s a warrior.” — GAME STORY

10. Madison Central (7-4)

Madison Central’s season is over following a close loss to No. 2 Oxford on the road in the first round of the 6A playoffs last week. They’re the only team in our Top 10 whose season is over, but consider what the Jags achieved this season: They took the defending state champs to the wire on their home field and hold wins over two teams who are still alive in the playoffs, despite starting their third-string quarterback for the entire second half of the season.
