PEARL - Northwest Rankin beat DeSoto Central 3-2 in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the MHSAA Class 6A Baseball State Championship series on Sunday.

It's the second baseball state championship in school history for Northwest Rankin. Their only other title came in 2005.

Southern Miss signee Nick Monistere was named the series MVP.
