Stonka Burnside commits to Mississippi State at Under Armour All-American game
Starkville Yellowjackets star wide receiver and defensive back Stonka Burnside is going to Mississippi State.
The senior four-star prospect made his announcement Wednesday afternoon at the Under Armour All-American game, choosing the Bulldogs over 20 other offers, including from power programs like Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas, among others.
Burnside put together an exceptional senior season for Starkville, bringing in 62 catches for 1,085 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense and 46 tackles, six stops for a loss and a forced fumble in limited snaps on defense. That performance was good enough for a first-team spot on the SBLive 2024 Mississippi All-State Teams.
He helped the Yellowjackets to a 10-4 overall record and a berth in the MHSAA Class 7A Championship, which the Oak Grove Warriors won 33-28.
Burnside first committed to Mississippi State in June before reopening his recruitment on Nov. 6. He took another official visit to Starkville on Dec. 8, but had played his decision close to the vest since announcing he would do no more interviews in mid-November.
