Congratulations to Ladue girls soccer goalkeeper Lena Orywall for being voted SBLive’s Missouri High School Athlete of the Week for April 18-24!

The soccer standout has been on a tear through her freshman campaign, allowing just 11 goals despite playing more than 1,000 minutes. She notched her sixth shutout of the season when Ladue captured a 3-0 win over Clayton last Saturday.

Orywall received 58.51% of the vote, beating out Parkway West's Ben Seavy who finished second with 32.08%. Francis Howell's Riley Hoff finished third with 8.83% and Fort Zumwalt West's Connor Stein finished fourth with 0.08%.

Kyndall Spain, Cardinal Ritter girls track and field

Spain, only a freshman, set this season’s fastest 300-hurdles time in the state at Ladue’s Brusca/Strohbach Invitational, finishing with a first-place mark of 43.25 seconds.

Tanner Duncan, Kennett baseball

In one of his more dominant outings of the season, the senior went 5 ⅓ innings while striking out seven batters and allowing one hit during Kennett’s 10-0, six-inning win against Sikeston last Monday.

Cooper Scharff, SLUH boys water polo

Schraff accounted for 10 goals during SLUH’s 15-6 win to hand Parkway West its first loss since May 2019. The senior scored seven of his own goals while dishing out three assists.

Kannon Carr, Poplar Bluff baseball

Carr, a senior, pitched six innings of scoreless baseball while striking out 12 batters en route to Poplar Bluff picking up an 8-1 win over Jackson last Thursday.

Zaya Akins, Raytown South girls track and field

Akins, a junior, set a new nationwide best time in the 400-meter dash by finishing in 53.06 seconds at the Gary Parker Invitational last weekend.

Quinten Gallagher, CBC boys water polo

Gallagher, a senior, netted seven goals to help lead CBC to a 12-7 win over Kirkwood last Saturday.

Carson Schmidt, Benton (St. Joseph) baseball

Schmidt, a sophomore, tallied four doubles to help the Cardinals take a 9-6 win over crosstown rival Lafayette last Tuesday.

Riley Hoff, Francis Howell girls lacrosse

Hoff, a junior, outscored the other team by netting five goals during Francis Howell’s 16-4 win over Francis Howell Central last Friday.

Ben Seavy, Parkway West baseball

A junior relief pitcher for Parkway West, Seavy dealt 3 ⅓ innings of action during West’s 4-1 win over rival Parkway Central, only allowing one hit while striking out three batters.

Caleb Dunbar, De Smet boys water polo

Dunbar, a senior, scored a game-high nine goals to help push De Smet to a 16-5 win over MICDS last Friday.

Carter Crosnoe, Cape Central baseball

Despite allowing four hits and four runs, the junior struck out eight in four innings and added a few hits at the plate to help Cape Central nab a 15-7 win over Sikeston.

Kate Virtel, Cor Jesu girls soccer

Virtel, a junior midfielder, converted on a free kick in the 47th minute to help Cor Jesu defeat St. Joseph’s 1-0. It marked St. Joseph’s first loss of the season.

Carson Hierholzer, CBC boys lacrosse

Hierholzer, just a freshman, got his first varsity start at goalie and delivered, tallying seven saves during CBC’s 10-4 win over Priory last Wednesday.

Connor Stein, Fort Zumwalt West baseball

The senior second baseman, who hits atop the lineup, scored two runs while driving in the go-ahead RBI and drawing three walks during Fort Zumwalt West’s 5-4 win over Francis Howell last Tuesday.

Hunter Cole, Harrisburg boys track and field

Cole, just a sophomore, took first place in the 100-meter dash at the Tomahawk Relays with a time of 12.49 seconds.

Blake Skornia, De Smet boys golf

Skornia, a senior, took first at the Webster Cup Tournament last Monday, firing off a 1-under 71 to claim the tournament’s only under-par round.

Nick Orscheln, St. Joseph Christian baseball

Only a freshman, Orscheln dealt last Wednesday to help the Lions with their 10th straight, lasting five innings and only allowing two hits during a 13-0 rout of North Harrison.

September Preslar, Neelyville softball

Preslar entered an eventual 4-0 victory over Doniphan in the fourth innings and didn’t allow a single hit while striking out six batters.

Issac Woodward, Fort Osage boys track and field

The freshman showed out at the Grain Valley Invitational, winning first place in the javelin with a hurl of 158 feet, ½ inch.
