Frenchtown softball P Sadie Smith voted SBLive’s Montana High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to Frenchtown softball pitcher Sadie Smith for being voted SBLive’s Montana High School Athlete of the Week for April 11-17!
The freshman came within one single of throwing a five-inning perfect game in a 14-0 softball victory over East Helena. Allowed only a leadoff single to start the game before striking out six of the next seven batters en route to a 10-strikeout performance overall.
Smith ran away with this week’s honor, receiving 91.3% of the total vote.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for April 11-17:
Dylan Beaudin, Valley Christian boys track & field: Won the 100 and 200 meters at the Thompson Falls Invite in a week when most other track events were canceled. Went 11.52 in the 100 and 24.37 in the 200.
Trevor Grant, Troy boys track & field: Ran his season-best 4:51.30 to win the 1,600 at the Thompson Falls Invite and added the 800 title in 2:14.40.
Taevyn Beaudin, Valley Christian girls track & field: Won three events at the Thompson Falls Invite. She ran the 100 hurdles in 18.17; the 300 hurdles in 54.28 and moved over to the field side to take the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 5 inches.
Emily Brown, Noxon girls track & field: At the Thompson Falls Invite, won the 400 meters in 1:05.55 and then added the 800 in 2:50.96.
Haley Wolsky, Sentinel softball: Had three hits and three RBI in a 20-1, five-inning thrashing of Hellgate. All three hits went for extra bases – two doubles and a home run.
Kodi Fraser, Sentinel softball: Amassed five hits, including a triple, in a 20-1, five-inning thrashing of Hellgate.
