St. John Bosco 4-star LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa picks Notre Dame over Ohio State, USC
One of the nation's top 100 football recruits has picked Notre Dame.
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, a very active 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker for defending mythical national champion St. John Bosco of Bellflower (Calif.), chose the Irish over Ohio State and USC.
As first reported by Greg Biggins of 247Sports, Viliamu-Asa cited faith, football and academics as chief reasons why he picked Notre Dame. He had 23 total offers but clearly made the Irish, USC and Ohio State his favorites after June's official visits to all three campuses.
Last season, Viliamu-Asa had 111 tackles, second on the Braves, who won a mythical national championship after winning the CIF Open Division title. He had a game-high 15 tackles in a 24-22 win over Mater Dei in the Southern Section title game (see video above).
Viliamu-Asa is ranked the 87th top recruit overall in the country by 247Sports — No. 10 in California — and the ninth-best linebacker overall in the nation.
Notre Dame is ranked ninth nationally in recruiting for the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports. Viliamu-Asa is the Irish's eighth 4-star recruit to commit from the class and the first Californian.
Viliamu-Asa is one of 15 Braves ranked among the top 247 seniors in California.
