The 2023 high school boys soccer season is well underway in several states across the country this fall.

SBLive Sports will be highlighting some of the top high school soccer players competing during the fall season (winter and spring soccer will receive attention later on).

Here are 20 of the biggest stars in high school boys soccer this fall. 

Owen Bull, sr., Trumbull (Connecticut)

Bull netted a school-record 28 goals a season ago. The forward also had six assists for Trumbull, the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference champion. 

Aldair Castelo, jr., Eldorado (Nevada)

Castelo notched 74 saves and seven shutouts as a sophomore. For his efforts, he was voted first-team all-state in Class 5A. 

Kymani Chitulangoma, sr., Mayo (Minnesota)

An electric senior forward, Chitulangoma had 16 goals and seven assists a season ago for Chitulangoma. He recently netted a hat trick against Red Wing. 

John Coon, sr., Rochester Adams (Michigan)

Coon was a Division I first-team all-state selection at keeper last fall for a Rochester Adams team that captured its first state title since 1999. Coon recorded 14 shutouts in 24 matches, including the state finals. 

Ariel de Dios Cruz, sr., Willamette (Oregon)

A goal-scoring machine for Willamette since his freshman season, de Dios Cruz is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball. He netted 15 goals as a junior en route to Class 6A all-state honors. 

Ely Detty, sr., Center Grove (Indiana)

Detty had 17 goals and 16 assists as a junior en route to all-state honors, but the forward has been even more productive this fall. Through his first 10 matches of 2023, Detty recorded 20 goals and six assists. 

Vitor Geromel, sr., Maize South (Kansas)

Geromel, a Clemson commit, tallied a school-record 42 goals and 18 assists as a junior while leading Maize South to the Class 5A state championship. He netted four goals in a recent 7-2 win over Goddard Eisenhower. 

Ransford Gyan, sr., St. Benedict’s (New Jersey)

A native of Ghana, Gyan was voted Gatorade National Player of the Year as a junior. He put up 20 goals and 14 assists last season, leading St. Benedict’s to a perfect 17-0 record and the Non-Public Prep A state championship. 

Cooper Hineline, jr., Ralston Valley (Colorado)

The lone sophomore to receive Class 5A first-team all-state recognition a season ago, Hineline is a versatile player who excels in the midfield and at forward. He scored 12 goals last year for a Ralston Valley team that reached the state semifinals. 

Daniel Hirai, sr., Boise (Idaho)

Hirai had 20 goals and 11 assists during his junior season as Boise made it all the way to the Class 5A state championship match. His sister, Kunie, is also a star soccer player for the Brave. 

Kaan Inanoglu, sr., Milton Academy (Massachusetts)

The 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year for Massachusetts, Inanoglu has a knack for finding the back of the net. He scored 23 goals and added four assists during his junior season. 

Eli Jarrell, so., Naperville Central (Illinois)

Jarrell was one of two freshmen players for last year’s Naperville Central team that won the Class 3A state title. The other — Chase Adams — is now in the Columbus Crew organization, but Jarrell is looking to replace Adams’ production from last season. He recently netted a hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Neuqua Valley.

Baka Kante, sr., Rockhurst (Missouri)

Kante, a midfielder, had 13 goals and 15 assists as a junior. He scored the lone goal as Rockhurst defeated Christian Brothers College for last year’s Class 4 state title. 

Ryan Mundy, sr., Blue Mountain (Pennsylvania)

Mundy was one of the country’s most productive goal-scorers a season ago, recording a program-record 56 goals for Blue Mountain. He had one six-goal game and scored five goals in five different matches. 

Ethan Otto, sr., Faith Lutheran (Nevada)

Otto tallied 29 goals and nine assists a season ago for Class 4A state champion Faith Lutheran. He is off to a good start this fall with eight goals through his first eight matches. 

Josh Petty, sr., John Carroll (Maryland)

Petty is a four-year starter and a dynamic offensive player for John Carroll. As a junior, Petty recorded 20 goals and 18 assists. 

Bradley Poppell, sr., Archbishop Moeller (Ohio)

Poppell set new Archbishop Moeller single-season school records for goals (21) and points (48) as a junior. He was a Division I first-team all-state selection. 

Drew Roskos, sr., Delran (New Jersey)

A two-time New Jersey state player of the year, Roskos will play college soccer for Bucknell. Roskos scored 33 goals as a sophomore and added 25 more last year for Delran. 

Andreas Shaboo, sr., Bethel (Connecticut)

Shaboo was productive in 14 matches as a junior, recording 16 goals and 11 assists. He entered his senior season with 37 career goals. 

Santiago Somorrostro, sr., Nashua South (New Hampshire)

Somorrostro carried Nashua South to a second consecutive Division I state championship last fall. The midfielder recorded 16 goals and 18 assists for a team that finished 17-3 overall.
