Cleveland Heights outlasts Medina behind 6 touchdowns from 4-star RB Marquise Davis

Cleveland Heights builds a big lead and hangs on in Ohio high school football shootout

Cleveland Heights junior running back Marquise Davis couldn't be stopped Friday night, leading the Tigers to a shootout win over Medina in Ohio high school football.

Davis put the game away with his sixth touchdown run of the night, a 53-yard scamper with less than two minutes remaining. It gave Cleveland Heights a 62-52 lead that would hold up as the final.

He finished with 361 rushing yards, while Medina quarterback Danny Stoddard threw for 495 yards and rushed for another 112.

Davis also helped his team out on defense with one of the biggest plays of the night on that side of the ball in a resilient fourth quarter for Cleveland Heights (7-1):

Medina (5-3) battled back from a 42-19 deficit in the second quarter to make the game more than interesting in the second half.

Stoddard threw six touchdown passes and ran for another to get Medina within four at 56-52 with just under three minutes remaining.

But Davis' big run put the game on ice and lifted him over 350 rushing yards on the night.

And his total would have been higher if he hadn't been flagged for a personal foul for showing his vertical skills on this run:

Cleveland Heights scored 13 points in the fourth quarter after getting blanked in the third. The Tigers led 49-32 at halftime.

It's Davis' second consecutive six-touchdown game after he ran wild against Solon last week. 

A 6-foot-1, four-star running back, Davis is one of the top uncommitted prospects in Ohio.

His many Power 5 offers include USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Miami (Florida).
