Look: Texas high school QB Cort Lowry throws touchdown pass nearly from his rear end
Franklin (Texas) quarterback Cort Lowry faked the handoff, went back to pass, slipped and nearly fell on his rear end.
Doesn't sound so special, does it?
But just before hitting the turf, Lowry slung a strike to fellow senior Devyn Hidrogo, who made the catch and sprinted for the end zone in one of the more improbable touchdowns you'll see.
Check out the play, which helped Franklin tie the game and eventually take a 28-14 halftime lead Friday night over Little River Academy:
Hidrogo's effort was no small feat, as the three-star Wyoming commit skied to make the grab and didn't allow a defender to get near him.
But Lowry, who's also a star pitcher for the Franklin baseball team, deserves most of the credit if this one finds its way onto SportsCenter.Β Β
And it's a definite contender for next week's edition of SBLive national high school football plays of the week.
Franklin went on to win 49-28:
Lowry is no stranger to heroics.
He kicked the game-winning field goal in Franklin's 17-14 state championship win over Brock last season to secure the Lions' second consecutive state title.
After the win Friday, Lowry announced his commitment to Tarleton State to play college baseball:
