Best high school girls basketball point guards in the nation entering the 2023-24 season

Expect these 20 ball-handlers to lead their teams this winter

Although the fall season wages on throughout most of the country, winter's high school girls basketball season is already underway in multiple states

SBLive Sports is highlighting some of the best players in the nation heading into the winter season.

Over the next week and a half, we’ll be taking a position-by-position look at some of the best of the best in high school girls basketball. To get things started, we’ll begin with the players who specialize in handling the ball.

Here are 20 of the best point guards in the nation entering the 2023-24 high school girls basketball season.

Ahnay Adams, sr., Tilton (New Hampshire)

A two-time New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year selection, Adams will play college basketball in the ACC for Miami. The speedy guard averaged 21.4 points, 6.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 steals per game as a junior. 

Mikayla Blakes, sr., Rutgers Prep (New Jersey)

Blakes put up 22 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.2 steals during her junior season for Rutgers Prep. She is a five-star point guard prospect. 

Divine Bourrage, jr., Davenport North (Iowa)

Bourrage is one of the most sought-after junior point guard recruits in the country as a 6-foot playmaker. She averaged 13.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals as a sophomore. 

Sabine Brueck, jr., North Country Union (Vermont)

A three-sport star who also competes in soccer and track, Brueck is the reigning Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year for basketball. She led North Country Union to last year’s Division II state championship while tallying 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.4 assists. 

Jaloni Cambridge, sr., Montverde Academy (Florida)

Competing for The Ensworth School, Cambridge averaged 26.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 3.8 assists as a junior to win Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Now at Montverde Academy, the five-star prospect is excited to play a national schedule this season. 

Aaliyah Chavez, jr., Monterey (Texas)

The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit for the class of 2025, Chavez is a junior point guard who can distribute and light up the scoreboard. In her two seasons with Monterey, Chavez has averaged 27.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, six assists, and 2.7 steals. She put up 30.4 points as a sophomore en route to SBLive Sports national player of the year honors. 

Morgan Cheli, sr., Archbishop Mitty (California)

Cheli, a five-star prospect, missed most of her junior season due to a foot injury, but returned in time to lead Archbishop Mitty to the state final. She committed to UConn in April.

Teagan Colvin, sr., Coeur d’Alene (Idaho)

Colvin averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals last winter as Coeur d’Alene captured the Class 5A state title. She chose UNLV for her college home over offers from several Power 5 schools. 

Devin Coppinger, sr., Nooksack Valley (Washington)

Coppinger averaged 22.1 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists as a junior, carrying Nooksack Valley to the program’s first event Class 1A state title. The Washington commit grew up idolizing former Huskies guard Kelsey Plum. 

Molly Hays, sr., Cody (Wyoming) 

Hays tallied 21 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 3.4 assists last winter as Cody secured the Class 4A state title. The Idaho State commit was voted Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year. 

Kayleigh Heckel, sr., Long Island Lutheran (New York)

The orchestrator of Long Island Lutheran’s offense, Heckel averaged 16.2 points, 6.5 assists and 3.7 steals for a team that won the Class AA title. She is a five-star recruit who has trimmed her list of college suitors to Alabama, Stanford, Tennessee and USC. 

Zamareya Jones, sr., North Pitt (North Carolina)

A five-star North Carolina State commit, the 5-foot-8 Jones is a tenacious two-way player. She put up monster stats as a junior, averaging 26 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 4.5 steals and 1.2 blocks. 

Madisen McDaniel, sr., Bishop McNamara (Maryland)

McDaniel was a force in every aspect of the game during her junior season, putting up 18.6 points, 5.4 assists, 5.2 steals and 4.3 rebounds. The five-star recruit committed to South Carolina over the summer. 

Liv McGill, sr., Hopkins (Minnesota)

McGill averaged 14 points and three assists last season for a Hopkins team that made it all the way to the Class 4A state championship game. A five-star recruit, McGill will play college basketball in the SEC for Florida. 

Keeley Parks, jr., Norman (Oklahoma)

Parks helped lead Norman to the Class 6A title game as a sophomore, averaging 20.3 points, 4.5 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 5.4 steals. She is a five-star prospect with numerous college suitors. 

Bryanna Preston, sr., Wesleyan (Georgia)

One of the top playmakers in the South, Preston recently committed to Texas. She is a two-way leader for Wesleyan who put up 18.7 points, 6.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals as a junior. 

Britt Prince, sr., Elkhorn North (Nebraska)

Prince averaged 23.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 3.5 steals a season ago en route to Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year honors. The five-star prospect recently committed to Nebraska over numerous other offers. 

Jada Richard, sr., Lafayette Christian Academy (Louisiana)

Richard has guided Lafayette Christian Academy to three consecutive Division II titles during her high school career. The LSU commit averaged 28.2 points per game as a junior. 

Xamiya Walton, sr., Butler (Illinois)

Walton, a varsity starter since her freshman season, is averaging 23.3 points, 5.1 assists, five steals and 4.3 rebounds entering her senior year. The do-everything guard is staying home for college to play for Northwestern. 

Allie Ziebell, sr., Neenah (Wisconsin)

A five-star UConn commit, Ziebell averaged 30.2 points as a sophomore and put up 25.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, two steals and 1.1 blocks last winter for Neenah. The do-everything guard was voted Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year.
