Look: DeSoto (Texas) lineman Byron Washington's junior year in pictures
Byron Washington spent his junior season pancaking opponents while starting at offensive tackle for 6A Division 2 Texas high school football state champion DeSoto.
The 6-foot-8, 380-pound junior went viral over the weekend with a photo being widely shared of him making a 6-foot-4, 215-pound opponent look tiny.
DeSoto (16-0) finished the year ranked No. 1 in Texas and No. 2 in the nation.
Washington holds offers from Texas, Oregon, TCU and Arizona State, and they should start piling up even more during his senior season in 2024.
He reportedly grew 6 inches in a month when he was in sixth grade and had emergency surgery to prevent his growth plates from collapsing.
After several years of physical therapy, Washington is at full strength now, and he showed it throughout his junior season.
SBLive Sports covered DeSoto Eagles football games in September, October and December and got several photos of Washington.
