Torrey Pines Holiday Classic: Scoring leaders, highlights from Day 3 (12/29/2023)

Carlsbad and Faith Family will play for the National Division championship game Saturday night

The 33rd Torrey Pines Holiday Classic boys’ basketball tournament continued Friday at five high schools across San Diego County.

Here’s a recap of the top performers as well as the top scorers from the third round.

TOP PERFORMERS

Brayden Kyman, Santa Margarita – Kyman, a six-foot-seven sophomore, was one of several Eagles to shoot it well on Friday. He finished with a game high 25 points in a blowout win against Bishop O'Dowd.

Parker Jefferson, Waxahachie – Jefferson showed off his long range touch with three early three-point baskets against Good Counsel. He then proceeded to do damage inside, finishing with 26 points in a four-point win.

Max Zylicz, Torrey Pines – Zylicz shot eight for 12 from the field, finishing with a career high 18 points. He helped the Falcons win their second straight game in the National Division, advancing to Saturday's consolation championship.

Angel Ochoa, St. Joseph Academy – Ochoa scored a season low 16 points in Wednesday's loss to LACES but has bounced back in a big way with 77 points over his past two games, heading into Saturday's finale.

Sebastian Rancik and Aidan Fowler, JSerra – The senior duo of Rancik and Fowler led the Eagles to a dominant win over St. Francis Prep (New York) one day after seeing their unbeaten season come to an end. Fowler finished with 20 points while Rancik had 18.
