Top 25 national girls high school basketball rankings: Archbishop Mitty hangs on to No. 1 (2/20/2024)
Things are about to get plenty more difficult for top-ranked Archbishop Mitty (California) the rest of the way in the California (CIF) Open Division girls basketball playoffs.
While that is going on, No. 2 Long Island Lutheran (New York) keeps posting top-10 national wins, this time over Montverde Academy and Morris Catholic Next up - Sidwell Friends.

1. Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA) (25-0 – 1st)
Opened CIF-CCS playoffs with 77-36 win over Saint Francis (Mountain View). Archbishop Mitty continues pool play against Archbishop Riordan and Pinewood.
2. Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, NY) (19-1 – 2nd)
Yet another amazing week, defeating Montverde (73-55) and Morris Catholic (81-58). Next in big early-week test against Sidwell Friends.
3. Etiwanda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) (28-3 – 3rd)
For third consecutive year, Eagles advance to face Sierra Canyon in CIF-SS Open Division finals without any close calls during pool play.
4. Grayson (Loganville, GA) (27-0 – 4th)
Finally, it's postseason time ... after an undefeated regular season in which Rams were hardly tested. They open playoffs Wednesday against Richmond Hill.
5. IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) (23-3 – 5th)
Had a week off after beating Montverde to finish regular season. Just waiting for more opportunities to move up.
6. Montverde Academy (Montverde, FL) (21-3 – 7th)
After devastating IMG Academy loss, Eagles dropped another game, this time to LuHi (73-55) before rebounding with impressive win over Sidwell Friends.
7. Sidwell Friends (Washington, DC) (21-4 – 9th)
Ran out of gas late against Montverde Academy in 81-72 loss. Monday brings another chance at a monumental win facing Long Island Lutheran.
8. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA) (30-1 – 10th)
Overcame slow start to roll past Mater Dei and cement its third consecutive Southern Section Open Division finals appearance.
9. Morris Catholic (Denville, NJ) (24-1 – 8th)
Dreams of undefeated season were dashed after 81-58 loss to LuHi. Loss should serve as a good tuneup before the playoffs.
10. Bishop McNamara (Forestville, MD) (22-4 – 6th)
After 64-58 loss to Bishop Ireton, Mustangs saw 16-game winning streak snapped. Still atop WCAL standings.
11. Incarnate Word Academy (Bel-Nor, MO) (24-0 – 11th)
Broke state record with 124th consecutive victory in victory over Ursuline Academy (75-32) - and team plays Burroughs on Wednesday.
12. DeSoto (DeSoto, TX) (25-5 – 12th)
So far, so good through two playoff games. But Round 3 brings a major test in Cedar Hill, which played DeSoto down to the wire (63-61) earlier this month.
13. Duncanville (Duncanville, TX) (28-4 – 13th)
Held first two playoff foes to 35 points apiece in easy victories - and that could happen against this week against Lake Ridge.
14. Westtown (West Chester, PA) (20-2 – 14th)
Been off a week after winning fourth consecutive FSL championship - after not winning one for nearly two decades. Playoffs next.
15. Mansfield Timberview (Arlington, TX) (36-1 – 15th)
Two playoff games, two blowout wins. Mansfield will be the favorite to keep it rolling Monday against Ryan.
16. Hebron Christian (Dacula, GA) (25-2 – 16th)
Finally done with regional play after a dominant 10-0 showing in AAA Region 8. Next up, playoffs.
17. Grace Christian (Sanford, NC) (28-0 – 17th)
While it's often the Sarah Strong show, junior Icyss Storm (22 points) led n Grace Christian's playoff opener, an 87-31 rout of Forsyth Country Day.
18. Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) (21-0 – 18th)
After defeating Cosby, 81-37, to end regular season, Thomas Dale beat same foe worse to open playoffs (90-13). Plays Glen Allen next.
19. Johnston (Johnston, IA) (24-0 – 19th)
Thrashed Des Moines North (79-23) to begin playoffs. Johnston continues the quest on Tuesday against Sioux City West.
20. Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa, CA) (26-2 – 20th)
Coming off a bye week due to an automatic semifinals berth, Cardinal Newman opens the CIF-NCS Open Division playoffs against Carondelet.
21. Folsom (Folsom, CA) (25-4 – 21st)
After steamrolling its way to Sac-Joaquin Section finals, Bulldogs play St. Mary's, which they defeated 58-53 in last year's championship.
22. Rutgers Prep (Somerset, NJ) (21-4 – 22nd)
Held off Gill St. Bernard's for the third time this season to end the regular season on a high note.
23. Loyola Academy (Wilmette, IL) (33-0 – 23rd)
Blew out Lincoln Park and Taft to open postseason, and is favorite in upcoming sectional semifinal match with Glenbrook North.
24. Purcell Marian (Cincinatti, OH) (21-1 – 24th)
Cruised past New Richmond (84-45) in its only OHSAA game of the week to stay sharp. Plays Hughest on Wednesday in next round.
25. South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX) (28-3 – Bubble)
Hasn't lost since turn of new year. Currently on a 13-game winning streak with only losses coming against Mansfield Timberview (twice) and Sierra Canyon.
