Top 25 national high school baseball rankings: Catholic (Louisiana) takes over as top team in country (3/18/2024)

Stoneman Douglas (Florida) slides to No. 3 after its 59-game winning streak is snapped

Stoneman Douglas (Florida) had its 59-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, moving the Eagles from the top spot in this week's SBLive Power 25 national high school baseball rankings.

Taking the spot at No. 1 is Catholic High School from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Led by LSU commits William Schmidt and Jack Ruckert, the Bears picked up wins over nationally ranked teams Lewisburg (Mississippi) and Farragut (Tennessee) in Florida last week.

1. Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.) (16-1)

Last week: 2

Catholic went 5-1 last week, including wins over nationally ranked teams in Lewisburg (Mississippi) and Farragut (Tennessee). The Bears will have another busy week including a three game set against Mandeville.

2. IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) (9-1)

Last week: 6

IMG rose up in this week's rankings thanks to shutouts over Palmetto and St. John's Country Day last week.

3. Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.) (8-1)

Last week: 1

Stoneman Douglas had their 59-game winning streak snapped by Lincoln on Saturday. They'll look to build a new streak this week that includes road games against St. Thomas Aquinas and Archbishop McCarthy.

4. Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) (10-1)

Last week: 4

The Lancers took the first two games of their Trinity League series against JSerra before dropping the finale, 3-0. Three games against Santa Margarita are set for this week.

5. Corona (Calif.) (6-1)

Last week: 5

Corona swept Norco in their opening series in the Big VIII League but needed extra innings in each of the final two games. Three games with Riverside-King are set for this week.

6. Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) (10-1-1)

Last week: 7

Harvard-Westlake stayed unbeaten in the Mission League with two wins over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame to start last week. Three games with Crespi are up this week.

7. Doral Academy (Doral, Fla.) (10-1)

Last week: 8

Doral bounced back from their loss to IMG Academy with wins over Westminster Christian and Miami last week. They'll host Gulliver Prep on Monday in their lone game of the week.

8. Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio) (0-0)

Last week: 10

Moeller's season will get underway on Saturday when they take on Strongsville.

9. Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.) (9-0)

Last week: 15

Valley Christian took two games from Archbishop Riordan to open West Catholic League play and beat Leigh on Saturday to remain undefeated.

10. Lewisburg (Olive Branch, Miss.) (12-3)

Last week: 12

Lewisburg went 3-2 last week in the South Walton Showdown. They beat Farragut (Tennessee) but were shutout by top-ranked Catholic (Louisiana).

11. Jackson Prep (Miss.) (18-2)

Last week: 14

Jackson Prep finished 3-1 in last week's Battle at the Beach. Senior Konnor Griffin collected seven hits over the four games and is hitting .696 on the season.

12. Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) (11-2)

Last week: 16

Parkview opened region play last week with a three-game sweep of Grayson. Three games against South Gwinnett are up this week.

13. Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.) (8-1)

Last week: 25

Senior Antwan Jackson Jr. hit two home runs in Thursday's 10-0 win against Shorecrest Prep.

14. North Broward Prep (Coconut Creek, Fla.) (7-1)

Last week: 11

Florida Atlantic commit TJ Gramesty had three hits including two doubles in Wednesday's shutout against Benjamin.

15. Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.) (13-3)

Last week: 17

Lowndes went 2-1 in their three-game series with Richmond Hill last week, scoring a combined 24 runs in their two victories. Three games with Colquitt County are up next.

16. Flower Mound (Texas) (16-3)

Last week: 18

The Jaguars outscored Marcus 15-1 in their two-game set last week. They'll play two games with Plano before hosting Colleyville Heritage on Saturday.

17. Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.) (9-0)

Last week: 19

Westlake was off last week, leading into a three-game series against Calabasas in Marmonte League. Noah Stead and Nolan Johnson have combined to his seven home runs.

18. Friendswood (Texas) (17-1-1)

Last week: 21

The Mustangs opened district play last week by taking two extra-inning games from Angleton. They'll take on Santa Fe twice this week.

19. Carlsbad (Calif.) (4-0)

Last week: 22

Carlsbad was off last week and will play once this week, leading into eight games over the next two weeks in the San Diego Lions and Boras Classic tournaments.

20. St. John’s Country Day (Orange Park, Fla.) (8-1)

Last week: NR

The Spartans unbeaten start to the year came to an end against IMG Academy on Thursday. They'll host Oakleaf and Buchholz this week.

21. Central (Phenix City, Ala.) (16-1)

Last week: NR

Central has won six straight to make their debut in this season's rankings, holding an early season win over No. 24 Bob Jones.

22. Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) (7-2)

Last week: NR

Hamilton scored 53 runs over four games last week to grab the championship of the Arizona Boras Classic.

23. Dallas Jesuit (Texas) (17-1)

Last week: 20

Dallas Jesuit dropped their first game of the season against Pearce, but bounced back with a 10-5 win in the second game of their series. Two games against Lake Highlands are up this week.

24. Bob Jones (Madison, Ala.) (18-4)

Last week: NR

The Patriots went 6-1 over seven games last week and hold a win over IMG Academy from early March.

25. Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) (16-0-1)

Last week: NR

The Lions took both games from Evangel Christian Academy in last week's doubleheader to remain unbeaten.
