Elkhorn girls soccer player Cate Cox voted SBLive’s Nebraska high school athlete of the week (April 24-30)

The senior grabbed nearly half the vote

Elkhorn girls soccer player Cate Cox was voted SBLive’ Nebraska High School Athlete of the Week for April 24-30.

Cox totaled 9,420 votes (48.61%). Roncalli Catholic junior girls soccer player Morgan Mancuso was second with 5,444 votes (28.09%).

Cox had her first multi-goal game of the season on April 25 when she scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Blair. Cox followed with two assists on Thursday as part of a 7-0 win against Lincoln Northwest.

Despite the recent success, Elkhorn then played in Saturday’s subdistrict play-in game and came through with a 4-0 win over Waverly. Cox handed out two more assists and made it an eight-point week.
