Duchesne girls soccer player Izzy Johnson voted SBLive’s Nebraska high school athlete of the week (May 1-7)

The goalkeeper totaled more than 41,000 votes

Duchensne girls soccer player Izzy Johnson was voted SBLive’s Nebraska High School Athlete of the Week for May 1-7. 

Johnson racked up 41,518 votes (50.62%). Omaha Mercy girls soccer player Rylee Rempe was second with 39,518 votes (48.19%). 

Johnson has been a wall in goal for the Cardinals all season, allowing just 10 goals in 16 games. Her 0.625 goals against average and 10 shutouts are among the state leaders in those categories. She notched number 10 in Saturday’s district final win and sent Duchesne to state for the 17th time in school history and fourth season in a row. Johnson made eight saves, including a penalty kick save, during a 5-0 victory over Elkhorn.
