Football
Angel Flores, Senior, Casa Grande - Completing 16 of his 21 pass attempts for just under 175 yards, Flores helped lead the Cougars to a 28-6 victory over Canyon del Oro on Friday. He also had 76 yards on 15 carries and an eight-yard rushing touchdown.
Jack Germaine, Sophomore, Mountain View - As the season continues to progress, so do his stats. This week, he was 16 for 20, passing for more than 200 yards to help lift Mountain View to victory against Desert Vista.
Nicco Marchiol, Senior, Hamilton - Passing for five touchdowns, he helped Hamilton defeat Highland 32-12 on Friday to remain in prime position in the Open rankings.
Max Martin, Junior, Camelback - After relying heavily on his arm for the past two weeks, Martin was able to also show off his legs in this game with a 20-yard rushing touchdown. In the 21-20 victory over Central, Martin only had to pass the ball twice in the second half.
Cole McFarland, Senior, Cienega - McFarland had two touchdowns in the game against Sunnyside on Friday, one being a 44-yard pass play, helping Cienega gat the 34-0 win.
Blaine Mourning, Senior, Chandler - His game-winning stop at the goal line with a big hit to a receiver helped Chandler edge Casteel 21-17.
Zac Swanson, Senior, Brophy - After getting to the quarterback and causing a sack to set up a fourth down for Centennial at the ‘Yotes 1-yard-line, he was able to break through the offensive line once again, this time blocking the punt in the end zone and recovering it for a touchdown. Swanson helped propel Brophy to a 33-21 victory and the program’s first win over Centennial since 2009.
Viliami Tongotea, Junior, Buckeye - In Friday’s game against Moon Valley, Tongotea helped drop the hammer on Moon Valley, rushing for over 200 yards and two touchdowns to help Buckeye pick up the 52-20 win.
DJ Warner, Sophomore, Desert Edge - His pick-six with 1:30 left in the game gave the Scorpions the lead over Sunrise Mountain and ultimately sealed the 28-21 win.
Volleyball
Miya Alvarado, Senior, Florence - Helping Florence to a 3-1 victory over ALA Ironwood, Alvarado had 27 kills, five digs, three blocks and two aces.
Kennedie Amarillas, Freshman, Williams Field - In her personal-best performance of the year, she helped lift Williams Field to a 3-0 rout of Higley with 16 digs, 11 kills, five aces and a block.
Blaykli Bobbit, Sophomore, Queen Creek - Bobbick had 20 kills, 10 digs and two blocks to help the Bulldogs defeat the Highland Hawks 3-1 on Tuesday.
Sydnee Broadway, Senior, O’Connor - In Monday’s game against Perry, she was making plays all over the court for the team. She had 13 kills, 13 digs and a pair of aces and blocks to help defeat Perry 3-1.
Alicia Cordova, Senior, Agua Fria - Cordova had 17 kills, nine digs and two aces to help the Owls defeat La Joya 3-0 on Wednesday.
Madison Eaton, Senior, Sahuaro - With 14 digs, 10 kills and a block, Eaton helped lift Sahuaro to a 3-0 win over Cholla on Monday.
Addison Haluska, Senior, Campo Verde - In Monday’s 3-0 rout of Williams Field, Haluska had 19 kills, seven digs and a block. She followed Wednesday with 19 kills, five blocks, five digs and two aces in the 3-0 win over Cienega.
Evan Hendrix, Sophomore, Notre Dame Prep - Hendrix, as only a sophomore, is already among the top players in the state. This week, she had 21 kills, eight digs and a block in the 3-0 rout of Salpointe Catholic.
Kendyl Holt, Senior, Trivium Prep - Holt helped Trivium Prep put up a good fight Monday in the team’s 3-2 loss to Scottsdale Christian with 19 kills, 18 digs and one block.
Eryn Jones, Junior, Millennium - In Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Verrado, Jones had 13 digs, 10 kills and a pair of aces and blocks.
Lexi Mallonee-King, Freshman, Chaparral - Helping to push Chaparral to a 3-2 win over Liberty, the freshman had 20 digs, 13 kills, six aces and a block.
Jordan Middleton, Senior, Hamilton - Her stellar senior season continues, as she had another outstanding performance on Tuesday against Xavier College Prep. Middleton had 15 kills, nine digs, two blocks and an ace to help defeat the Gators 3-0.
Korah Nordin, Junior, Valley Christian - The junior had 13 kills, eight digs and four aces in the 3-0 victory over Eastmark on Monday.
Tatum Parrott, Senior, Greenway - Against Thunderbird, Parrott helped the Demons pull out a 3-2 win with 41 kills, 27 digs, four aces and a block. She followed Wednesday with 37 kills, 14 digs, four aces and two blocks to help defeat Bradshaw Mountain 3-0.
Abigail Platt, Senior, Bradshaw Mountain - In Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Mohave, Platt had 18 kills, four aces and two blocks. She also had 18 kills, 11 digs, an ace and a block in the 3-0 loss to Greenway on Wednesday.
Shaelene Singer, Junior, Winslow - Racking up 21 digs, 11 kills and an ace, Singler helped Winslow take a 3-2 win over Payson on Thursday.
Maliyah Spencer, Senior, Willow Canyon - In Monday’s meeting with West Point, she had 17 kills, eight aces, four digs and three blocks to help the Wildcats take a 3-0 win.
Alma Teilon, Freshman, Desert View - Despite her team’s 3-2 loss to Nogales on Tuesday, the freshman had an outstanding night. She had 16 digs, 15 kills and four aces in the match.
Ali West, Junior, O’Connor - Helping O’Connor to a 3-0 victory over Liberty on Thursday, West had 10 kills, nine digs, four aces and two blocks.
Boys swimming
Isaac Baesler, Senior, Ironwood Ridge - Clocking in with a time of 54.17, Baesler won the 100 Butterfly at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier.
Edgar Betancourt Ramirez, Senior, Ironwood Ridge - Finishing the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:48.38, he took first place at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier. He also took home the gold for the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:55.32.
Peter Buskirk, Freshman, Sunnyslope - The freshman took home first place in the one-meter diving event at the Glendale District Meet with a score of 470.30.
Giacomo Clayton, Junior, Sunnyslope - At the Glendale District Meet, Clayton clocked in with a time of 1:03.85 in the 100 Breaststroke to take home the gold for the event.
Seth Crow, Freshman, Centennial - At the Best in the West State Qualifier, Crow won the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:05.19.
Trevor Dixon, Senior, Red Mountain - Dixon punched in with a time of 1:00.23 to win the 100 Breaststroke at the Hohokam City Championships.
Carter Dooling, Senior, Ironwood Ridge - Taking home the gold in the 100 Breaststroke, Dooling clocked in at 58.28 at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier.
Jessie Edwards, Senior, Paradise Valley - Edwards clocked in at 52.53 in the 100 Backstroke at the AMDG Swim Invitational, taking home the gold.
Christopher Emmett, Freshman, Sunrise Mountain - The freshman took the first-place spot at the Best in the West State Qualifier for the one-meter diving event, finishing with a total of 256.65.
Timothy Fay, Senior, Gilbert - At the AMDG Swim Invitational, Fay took first place in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:00.75.
Eduardo Flynn, Sophomore, Pinnacle - At the AMDG Swim Invitational, Flynn won both the 50 and 100 Freestyles, clocking in at 22.19 and 47.96, respectively.
Jack Gilles, Senior, Mountain View - Mesa - Gilles won the 200 Individual Medley at the Hohokam City Championships, finishing with a time of 2:05.46.
Gabe Gonda, Junior, Brophy - Clocking in at 51.76, Gonda took first place in the 100 Butterfly at the AMDG Swim Invitational. He also was able to take home the gold for the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:54.00.
Asher Good, Junior, Saguaro - Good finished the 500 Freestyle at the AMDG Invitational with a time of 4:48.16.
Carson Hamblin, Junior, Dobson - At the Hohokam City Championships, Hamblin finished in first for the 100 Butterfly with a time of 51.39. He also had the top time in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:45.65.
Kyle Hazelton, Junior, Sunnyslope - Hazelton took home first place at the Glendale District Meet for the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:57.11.
Braden Hess, Senior, Ironwood Ridge - Hess returns to the list this week for his performance at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier. Clocking in at 21.78, he won the 50 Freestyle. He also took home the gold for the 100 Backstroke with a time of 54.73.
Mason Hopkins, Sophomore, O’Connor - Distance swimming is Hopkins’ strong suit, and he showed that off at the Best in the West State Qualifier. He finished in first place for both the 200 and the 500 Freestyle, clocking in at 1:50.03 and 4:50.59, respectively.
Ben Johnson, Senior, Mountain View - Mesa - Johnson finished with the top time for the 100 Backstroke at the Hohokam City Championships with a time of 55.40.
Michael Johnson, Senior, Perry - Johnson clocked in at 47.70 in the 100 Freestyle at the Husky Invite, taking home the gold.
Keaton Jones, Junior, Higley - At the Husky Invitational, Jones won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:22.89, more than 30 seconds better than the rest of his competition.
Preston Kasovac, Sophomore, Sunnyslope - Clocking in with a time of 24.22, Kasovac was narrowly able to edge out the competition and take first place at the Glendale District Meet.
Daniel Knapp, Senior, Skyline - Finishing in first place for the one-meter diving event at the Hohokam City Championships, Knapp had a total of 620.65.
Robert Kovalcik, Senior, Sunrise Mountain - For the 100 Backstroke, Kovalcik took home the gold at the Best in the West State Qualifier with a time of 55.74.
Andon Mattson, Senior, O’Connor - Clocking in with a time of 56.02, Mattson won the 100 Butterfly at the Best in the West State Qualifier.
Anden McKinney, Junior, O’Connor - McKinney finished the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.98 at the Best in the West State Qualifier, snagging first place in the event.
Kable Morris, Senior, Chandler - The senior won his team’s home invitational for the one-meter diving event with a total of 380.05.
Evan Nail, Senior, Perry - At the Husky Invite, Nail finished in first place for both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. He finished with times of 21.28 and 50.04, respectively.
Tyson Newbold, Senior, Mesa - Winning both the 50 and the 100 Freestyle, Newbold clocked in with times of 21.65 and 47.05, respectively, at the Hohokam City Championships.
Evan Pickles, Junior, Hamilton - At the Husky Invitational, Pickles took first place for both the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Individual Medley. He finished the breaststroke with a time of 58.97 and the IM at 1:56.28.
Colby Raffel, Senior, Sunnyslope - Finishing in the top spot for both the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley, Raffel clocked in with times of 51.00 and 1:53.77, respectively, at the Glendale District Meet.
Lucas Reymore, Junior, Thunderbird - Finishing the 500 Freestyle at the Glendale District Meet with a time of 5:28.80, Reymore took home the gold.
Nathan Rhea, Sophomore, Cienega - In the 100 Freestyle at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier, Rhea finished with a time of 49.57 to take home gold.
Garrett Rowley, Junior, Mountain View - Mesa - Rowley clocked in with a time of 4:57.46 to take home first place in the 500 Freestyle at the Hohokam City Championships.
Jake Silva, Sophomore, Hamilton - At the Husky Invitational, Silva won gold for the 200 Freestyle, clocking in at 1:48.15.
Michael Simcoe, Freshman, O’Connor - It was a strong meet for the freshman at the Best in the West State Qualifier, as he finished in first place for both the 50 and 100 Freestyle with times of 22.19 and 49.60, respectively.
Jack Sorenson, Senior, Brophy - The senior took first place in the 200 Freestyle at the AMDG Swim Invitational, touching the wall at 1:42.63.
Gideon Stemmons, Junior, Greenway - Stemmons won the 100 Freestyle at the Glendale District Meet, clocking in at 48.79. He also took home gold for the 100 Backstroke with a time of :56.14.
Riley Stewart, Senior, Canyon del Oro - Stewart won the 200 Individual Medley at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier with a time of 1:57.54.
August Vestch, Sophomore, Casteel - At the Husky Invitational, Vestch clocked in with a time of 50.06 in the 100 Butterfly to take first place in the event.
Girls swimming
Amelie Andres, Junior, Boulder Creek - At the Best in the West State Qualifier, Andres punched in with a time of 1:07.44 to take first place in the 100 Breaststroke. She also finished in first place for the 500 Freestyle, clocking in at 5:20.44.
Hannah Aguila, Freshman, Highland - Finishing with a time of 2:12.11, the freshman won the 200 Individual Medley at the AMDG Swim Invitational.
Caelle Armijo, Sophomore, O’Connor - Armijo finished in first place for both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events at the Best in the West State Qualifier, clocking in at 24.40 and 51.83, respectively.
Ashleigh Baros, Senior, Xavier College Prep - In the 100 Breaststroke at the AMDG Swim Invitational, Baros finished in first place with a time of 1:10.31.
Emma Becker, Senior, Mountain View - Mesa - At the Hohokam City Championships, Becker took home first in the 100 Breaststroke, punching in with a time of 1:04.99. She also won the 200 Individual Medley, clocking in at 2:09.92.
Neely Burns, Senior, Thunderbird - Taking first place for the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Individual Medley at the Glendale District Meet, Burns finished with times of 1:07.33 and 2:09.07, respectively.
Charley Cottrell, Senior, Sunnyslope - Cottrell took home first place at the Glendale District meet for the 100 Freestyle with a time of 56.94.
Tyler Driscoll, Junior, Salpointe Catholic - Returning to the list this week is Driscoll for her performance at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier. She took home first in the girls 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.76.
Margaret Esterly, Junior, Pinnacle - At the AMDG Swim Invitational, Esterly won both the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke with times of 54.32 and 59.13, respectively.
Meropi Eggink, Freshman, Junior - In the 100 Backstroke at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier, Eggink finished in first, clocking in at 59.30.
Natalie Fox, Freshman, Sunnyslope - The freshman finished in first place for the 500 Freestyle at the Glendale District Meet with a time of 6:06.23.
Paige Housman, Junior, Pusch Ridge - The future Kentucky Wildcats swimmer won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 53.13.
Avery Howayeck, Senior, Catalina Foothills - Finishing with a time of 1:09.89, Howayeck took home first in the 100 Breaststroke at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier.
Katherine Hutter, Junior, Ironwood - In the 200 Individual Medley at the Best in the West State Qualifiers, Hutter punched in with a time of 2:14.88 to finish in the top spot.
Alexia Jackson, Senior, Perry - For the girls one-meter diving event at the Husky Invitational, Jackson took first place with a score of 408.80.
Sophia Jahn, Sophomore, Red Mountain - At the Hohokam City Championships, Jahn won the 50 Free with a time of 23.74 and the 100 Free with a time of 52.36.
Kaci Kelaher, Sophomore, Rincon/University - Kelaher finished in first at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier for the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.95.
Nicole Kepl, Senior, Liberty - Clocking in at 1:00.05, Kepl had the top time for the 100 Butterfly at the Best in the West State Qualifier.
Mikayla Knaffla, Junior, Pinnacle - Knaffla took first place in the 50 Freestyle at the AMDG Swim Invitational with a time of 25.41.
Lilian Li, Freshman, Catalina Foothills - Punching in with a time of 2:14.20, the freshman took home first place for the 200 Individual Medley at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier.
Dianna Lizarraga Rochin, Senior, Independence - At the Glendale District Meet, Lizarraga Rochin took first place in the 100 Backstroke, clocking in at 1:04.76.
Laura Manley, Sophomore, Canyon del Oro – Manley took first place in the 200 Freestyle at the Southern Arizona Regional Qualifier with a time of 1:59.25, as well as in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:21.36.
Haley Mueller, Sophomore, Perry - At the Husky Invitational, Mueller won the 100 Backstroke with a time of 56.71.
Gracie Munk, Senior, Xavier College Prep - Munk clocked in with a time of 57.95 in the 100 Butterfly at the AMDG Swim Invitational to take first place.
Grace Nickell, Sophomore, Mountain View - Mesa - Nickell took home the gold at the Hohokam City Championships for the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:56.37. The sophomore also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.44.
Kennedy Noble, Senior, Millennium - The future North Carolina State swimmer continues to hold a strong grip on the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Freestyle, finishing with times of 55.22 and 1:52.87, respectively, at the Husky Invitational.
Hope Nolan, Senior, Xavier College Prep - At the AMDG Swim Invitational, Nolan snagged first place in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:57.98.
Kailee Patters, Senior, Desert Ridge - Clocking in at 53.45 at the Husky Invitational, Patters took first place in the 100 Freestyle.
Audrey Pickles, Sophomore, Hamilton - The sophomore took first place in the 50 Freestyle at the Husky Invitational, clocking in at 23.90.
Ruby Pickron, Junior, Red Mountain - Pickron took home first place for the girls One Meter diving event with a total of 482.05 at the Hohokam City Championships.
Piper Rietz, Freshman, Basha - Edging out the competition in the 500 Freestyle, Rietz took first place at the AMDG Swim Invitational with a time of 5:34.53.
Julia Shoenfelder, Freshman, Boulder Creek - For the 200 Freestyle at the Best in the West State Qualifier, Shoenfelder finished with a time of 2:00.33.
Baylee Sloan, Freshman, Casteel - Sloan won the 200 Individual Medley at the Husky Invitational with a time of 2:09.43.
Tavia Stemmons, Senior, Greenway – Stemmons won both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly at the Glendale District Meet with times of 24.93 and 59.10, respectively.
Emmy Therrien, Freshman, Higley - Clocking in more than 10 seconds ahead of her competition at the Husky Invitational, Therrien finished the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:07.47.
Taylor Walkenbach, Junior, Sunrise Mountain - Finishing with a time of 1:01.78, Walkenbach took home the gold in the 100 Backstroke at the Best in the West State Qualifier.
Remi Wallace, Senior, Red Mountain - Wallace won both the 100 Butterfly and Backstroke, finishing with times of 56.43 and 1:00.08, respectively, at the Hohokam City Championships.
Corinne Warriner, Freshman, Hamilton - In a tight race, Warriner was able to outtouch her opponents and take first place for the 100 Breaststroke at the Husky Invitational. Clocking in at 1:07.03, less than a second of time separated her from the third-place finisher.
Maya Washburn, Sophomore, Moon Valley - Clocking in with a time of 1:58.48, Washburn finished in first for the 200 Freestyle at the Glendale District Meet.
Maddi Williams, Junior, Sunrise Mountain - In the one-meter diving event at the Best in the West State Qualifier, Williams finished with a score of 415.00 to take first place.
