SBLive’s San Diego Section Top 10 Boys Basketball Rankings: La Costa Canyon jumps to No. 7 after big week
La Costa Canyon jumped back into the top 10 of SBLive's San Diego Section Boys Basketball rankings after a 3-0 week that included a decisive 63-46 win over No. 2 San Marcos. The Mavericks have now won four straight games and will take on Francis Parker in game one of the Holiday Classic Tipoff night on Thursday at Torrey Pines.
SBLive’s San Diego Section high school boys basketball rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Bodie DeSilva and will be released every Monday throughout the winter 2021-22 season.

1. St. Augustine (8-2)
The Saints lost to Liberty (NV) in game one of the Tarkanian Classic before taking down Sheldon (Sacramento) in game two.

2. San Marcos (6-3)
The Knights suffered a surprising loss to No. 7 La Costa Canyon last Monday and lost to Bingham (UT) before taking down Overland (CO) by 13 points on Saturday. They'll play twice more in Las Vegas before returning home.

3. Torrey Pines (8-1)
The Falcons took down No. 9 Mission Hills, 69-66 on Wednesday night. They'll play No. 5 San Ysidro in the Holiday Classic Tipoff Night on Thursday.

4. Mission Bay (7-2)
The Buccaneers returned to the court after a long layoff and beat Bonita Vista and San Dieguito Academy last week.

5. San Ysidro (6-3)
San Ysidro won at Rancho Buena Vista, their sixth straight victory after starting 0-3. They'll play No. 3 Torrey Pines in the final game of the Holiday Classic Tipoff night on Thursday.

6. Cathedral Catholic (8-3)
The Dons won at Steele Canyon in their only game last week. They'll take on Scripps Ranch and Helix this week.

The Mavericks jumped back into the rankings after a 3-0 week that included a statement win over San Marcos, 63-46.

8. Mater Dei Catholic (6-2)
The Crusaders handled Coronado and Central last week and will take on Southwest San Diego and Carlsbad this week.

The Grizzlies lost to No. 3 Torrey Pines 69-66 then lost to Clovis North 50-47 at the Mission Prep tournament in San Luis Obispo. They'll play twice more this week before returning home.

La Jolla Country Day beat Foothills Christian by 56 and will travel to unbeaten El Camino on Tuesday.
