Congratulations to Blue Springs South girls basketball shooting guard/point guard Jaidynn Mason for being voted SBLive’s Missouri High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24-30!
The senior did a little bit of everything during a 56-28 win over rival Blue Springs last Thursday, scoring 20 points, dishing out four assists, pulling down seven rebounds and getting six steals.
Mason received 53.45% of this week’s vote, beating out CBC's Jack Soloman who finished second with 23.61%. Ruskin's London Greer finished third with 11.86% and Eureka's Carson Smith finished fourth with 3.65%. There were over 30,000 votes tallied this week!

Kyle Bruce, Blue Springs boys basketball
Bruce dropped 20 points to go along with four steals during the Wildcats’ 74-31 domination of rival Blue Springs South last Friday.
Ayden Shannon, Wellington-Napoleon girls basketball
Shannon was responsible for the highest-scoring performance on the girls side this week, dropping 42 points and five rebounds during a 66-53 win over Bishop LeBlond last Saturday.
Michael Howard, Plattsburg boys basketball
Howard had a monstrous double-double during a 48-34 win over Mid Buchanan last week, scoring 25 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
Tony Osburn, Mound City boys basketball
One of the most-talked-about players in the state, Osburn had 38 points and seven assists during a 78-70 win over West Platte. Three days before that, he dropped 43 points while going 19-for-24 en route to a 92-50 win over North Platte.
Brett Smith, Holt wrestling
The junior made his way through a grueling 170-pound bracket at the Kyle Thrasher Tournament, eventually finishing in first place after a 4-1 win in the title match. Smith’s performance led to him being the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
Damien Goddard, Midway boys basketball
Goddard played a crucial part in Midway’s 61-38 win over Warsaw last Thursday with a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double.
Riley Bruggerman, St. James Academy girls basketball
Bruggerman terrorized the opposition during a 75-25 win over St. Teresa’s Academy last week, scoring 24 points and using the other end of the court to get three steals.
Darin Conley, Pembroke Hill boys basketball
Conly notched a double-double last Wednesday with 21 points and 15 rebounds during a 64-55 win over Bishop LeBlond.
Taliyah Scott, Truman girls basketball
