Jamaica Young scored 13 points and Zariyah Edwards added 11 to lift Tupelo to a 70-45 victory over Starkville in the Class 6A Region 1 girls basketball tournament championship on Friday night.

TUPELO, Miss. - The Tupelo girls basketball team rolled to a 70-45 victory over Starkville in the Class 6A Region 1 girls basketball tournament championship on Friday night.

With the win Tupelo earns a bye in the first round of the 6A playoffs. The Golden Wave will play the winner of Hernando vs. Madison Central in the second round on Friday, Feb. 18.

Starkville will play Center Hill in the first round of the playoffs on Monday.
