James Franklin, Penn State football coach, visits Ohio recruit via helicopter

James Franklin squeezed in time for recruiting ahead of Saturday's showdown between Penn State and Ohio State

James Franklin must be racking up frequent-flier points for helicopter trips.

While in Ohio for one of the biggest college football games of the 2023 season, the Penn State head coach once again used a helicopter as his mode of transportation for a recruiting visit.

Franklin, who took a helicopter to see a Nittany Lions commit in Pennsylvania last month, arrived in a helicopter Friday night to watch Olentangy (Ohio) quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer.

Grunkemeyer is one of Penn State's top commits in the class of 2024. He committed to the Nittany Lions in May after receiving offers from Indiana, Boston College and several others.

The four-star senior is the nation’s No. 9 quarterback and No. 114 overall recruit in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Franklin stuck around to watch Grunkemeyer and his Olentangy team beat Marysville 39-29.

Football fans around the country will be watching Saturday as Penn State, ranked No. 7 in the country, attempts to take down No. 3 Ohio State on the road.
