Armondo Blount flips to Florida State: 5-star defensive lineman reclassifying to 2024
Flip season is in full swing.
On Sunday, five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Miami Central announced he has flipped his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to rival Florida State. Blount is also reclassifying from 2025 to 2024 and will be joining the Seminoles next season, he told 247Sports.
The big flip comes less than 24 hours after Blount watched in person as Florida State, ranked No. 4 in the country, took down No. 16 Duke in Tallahassee to improve to 7-0 for the first time since 2014.
It's unclear where exactly he'll slot in the 2024 rankings, but Blount is currently a consensus five-star recruit.
Blount was the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 5 overall recruit in the class of 2025, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
If he does reclassify, he would be the third five-star commit for Florida State's 2024 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 6 in the country.
He committed to Miami in September, choosing the Hurricanes over Florida State and Oklahoma, among others.
The highly-touted recruit transferred to Miami Central this year after a standout sophomore campaign at Dillard (Florida) in which he totaled 16 sacks and 30 tackles for loss.
