Look: Lancaster upsets Longview on last-second field goal in Texas high school football playoff thriller
With its best player sidelined due to an apparent injury, Longview saw its season come to an end with a stunning loss to Lancaster in the UIL regional semifinals.
Lancaster trailed by 14 points at halftime but edged out Longview, 27-24, after Andres Castro booted a game-winning 36-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game.
Longview (11-2) entered the playoffs ranked No. 19 in Texas after winning nine games in a row to wrap up the regular season.
The Lobos played without five-star running back Taylor Tatum, an Oklahoma commit, who did not suit up for the regional semifinals after getting banged up in the area round last week.
Lancaster (8-5) began the season with a 2-5 record but has now won six games in a row.
The Tigers will meet up with Forney, which took down Richland tonight, in the regional finals next week. The winner of next week's game will play the winner of No. 5 Aledo vs. Abilene in the state semifinals.
